Hi David...consider Nature's Miracle Just For Cats found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by soaking the affected area thoroughly and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas.

there is a product on the market called Urine Gone. It will take the smell away from carpets and such. I would assume it will work for your door too. I would wash it first with some soapy bleach water to see if that helps before spending money on this tho. ALSO, even if YOU can't smell it anymore the cat will and will continue to come back to it's "territory". Put a little ground red pepper(cayenne) mixed with flour around the area and anywhere else he may have sprayed or is likely to. Once he gets a whiff of this he will not come back. It will NOT harm the cat. Got the tip from my vet because strays were pooing in my flower beds. Or can just sprinkle a little cayenne there by itself. If you mix it with the flour it will stretch it a bit further. Approx 1 TBL. to a cup of flour and shake or mix thoroughly. Can vacuum or clean it later after a few days. It he comes back put it again. (I doubt he will tho)

Spray your door with "Nature's Miracle" - takes the urine scent off. Then just as a precaution, tape aluminum foil at the bottom part of your front door and leave it there for a few days in case the tom decides to come back and mark. Cats don't like foil and that may comvince the tom that the front door is not a good place to spray.

Bleach and boiling water in the first instant, will get rid of the smell. If you eat oranges, put the peel around the step etc., they don't like citrus smells, so they keep away. You usually have these things in the home, so won't cost you any extra expense.

You need to scrub the area with a solution of biological washing powder and water, then spray the area with surgical spirit. It works on carpets and upholstery too.
