Sunday, 12/7/1941, at approximately 7:50 to 7:56 a.m., depending on the unit attacked. 300 planes from the Japanese task force started dropping bombs on American targets. Most of these units were preparing for morning colors (raising the flag).
Earlier that morning, a US destroyer attacked and sank an Imperial Navy mini-sub on the approach (an exclusion area) to Pearl. That was the first shot in the Pacific war for the U.S.

Yes, indeed, Dec 7, 1941. Now I hope you are just testing us, and you already knew the answer. I would hate to think something as monumental as this is unknown to you.
But I guess certain dates stick with folks depending on their relationship with that date. Everyone will know, forever, what they were doing on Sept 11, 2001. Folks my age will remember where they were November 22, 1963. I guess it's just the role of experience in these things.
