Is there still a need for a partition wall between the kitchen and the bedroom area of a one bedroom flat?

I have heard that the regulations have been relaxed over the last eighteen months but can find nothing on the internet about this.

The regulations are very detailed and stipulate all sorts of clauses such as paying guests and number of rooms/occupants etc, however if you own your own property and it is small as you say, and you are not a landlord, some wont apply. Assuming you are in the UK, call your local council planning department with your address, they usually give good advise over the phone as to what you can do, eg, they will tell you that you can build a porch, or conservatory and the size that is allowed etc..etc, ask them as they are the experts, if you need planning permission, (which I doubt) then they will have a look at your property's details while you are on the phone (from original builders deeds).

There are lots of regulations for fire, and lots of other new ones which include the fitting of UPVC windows and DIY electrical changes.

Your local council will also tell you if you can store a caravan, or how high you can put up a fence, or grow a hedge. And things like that.
