He was with her for 7 years, he told me that she was practically a pathological liar, she lied and told him that their kid was his, but he got a DNA test and he found out that that little boy wasn't even his kid; she even named that little boy after him. He is a cop and she is a low life with minor criminal offenses on her record. Will he ever wake up and smell the roses?

maybe he doesn't think he can do any better. Or has some psycological thing telling himself he "deserves" that kind of treatment for something he did.
This sounds like a huge lack of self-esteem. You need to tiptoe lightly on this one or he will take it as a personal attack lowering his self-esteem even further (possibly) or more likely he will not take anything you have to say about it seriously.
Your best bet might be to try to show him that he can do better somehow. Setting him up with a girlfriend of yours, compliment him and build up his self-esteem.
It is likely that that is also how this girl works, she plays games and has had 7 years to tear him down.

I know a guy like that. I think especially because he is a cop he may have a hero complex and maybe he thinks he can save her. Or maybe something happened to him or someone he knows and its stopping him form letting go. The guys I know had a hero complex and he grew up with a disfunctioal mom and well I guess he took care of his mom and he loved her despite her flaws and so thats why he stayed with this girls even though he wasn't happy he though he good love her back to the good side and because he saw his mom go through life alone and he wouldn't want that for anyone else. Also some people have a perverse affinity for pain. Who knows? He may just ahve a big heart and they hve one of those relationships that they don't even understand.

She must not b that bad 4 him to still spend time w/ her. My ex told someone I used 2 care about a whole lot of lies cuz he wanted to control her life & couldn''t stand to c her happy.THAT person believed him .Well,it started a whole chain of events, that led to a downward spiral of negative events.Now that person on paper looks horrible but the victim ended up coming out ok.The truth is finally showing up little by little.The deceitful people involved have incrimenated themselves & the truth is showing now.Take it from the horses mouth if u want the truth. Do not rely on 1 persons side of a story .These people tried to ruin her life 4 the soul pupose to gain something she had which was very valuable.They had a motive but the truth came out in the end.Thier reputations were tarnished due to the evil deceit they caused and alot of people were very hurt over certain circumstances.It is true an army can cause alot of damage but justice does prevail. Truth is always best in most situations anyway..........these events took place over yearsThey did damage her somewhat, all 4 something she had.but ended up looseing in the end......IT WOULDN'T SUPRISE ME TO FIND OUT A DIFFERENT STORY FROM THE GIRL U ARE TALKING ABOUT but you never know unless u ask.Gossip is a horrible thing.This is where u need to look at situations & down play them.People can exaggerate. Go with your gut feelings too on things.

I think he is really in love with this girl and he doesnt care whether she has done bad things to hurt him. But you just have to hope that he will wake up and realize that she isnt good for him.
