Your invented "friend" is not Wiccan. Wiccans don't recruit.
Your ability to say "no" to anything is totally within your own power, so if you're not saying it, it's due to YOU. Don't try to make it sound like you're under a spell - it doesn't make your story any more believable.
Pull the other leg - it's got bells on it.
*********
The rest of this note here is to the Christians who always show up to condemn us.
Are you purposely trying to alienate and radicalize the Pagans who have, in general, accepting views of Christians?
I'm an interfaith kind of person - I have friends of many religious paths, and some VERY dear friends who are Christians. Some are even clergy.
You are going a far way to changing that. Every time y'all show up on questions about my religion to condemn, or even worse, accuse me of being a Satanist, you erode my good feelings about Christians. I have to remind myself that you're not all like that. It's actually affecting my relationships with the Christian friends I have.
Is that what you are trying to accomplish? Do you WANT to make enemies out of tolerant and accepting, peaceful Pagans?
I think you ought to think about the consequences of your actions

Wicca is an earth based religion.
It began in the 1940s by Gerald B. Gardner who had been a free mason, learned mental mysticism of the Yogis while working as a civil servant in India, and when he returned to England he joined a witchcraft coven.
Wicca is a philsophy pr religion with roots in all three of the philosophies mentioned above.
If Wicca answers your spiritual questions; I am happy for you. If not; keep looking for a path that DOES answer your spiritual questions.

Wicca is a modernized form of an old witchcraft religion. Do not go into the woods with this person you barely know if you are feeling uneasy.

If it makes you feel uneasy, don't get involved. Wicca is a nature-based religion that practices magick. It's a little more than that, but that's its description in a nutshell. It's a very positive faith, but I'm a little biased because my faith is very similar to Wicca.
However!--
Your friend isn't acting like a Wiccan. Wicca is not a proselytizing faith. You are either drawn to it or not. Wiccans do not flaunt their magick like your friend seems to. They do not make bad things happen. (The Wiccan Rede is very clear on this, "An it harms none, do what ye will.") The fact that he is pressuring you is not a good sign. I would advise you to get away from him and stay as far away from him as possible. Be safe.

Don't go. Wiccans do not convert. If he is trying to convert you then he doesn't understand Wicca. And if he mentions good or BAD things, then he really doesn't understand Wicca. We Wiccans are very aware of our karma, and making bad things happen will only come back on us threefold.
Seriously. Wiccans should never try to convert you. That equates imposing our will on another, which is a BIG no-no in Wicca.
Oh, and the guy who gave the link to the ridiculous cartoon is ridiculous. Anyone who tells you it has anything to do with Satan is ignorant. We don't believe in Satan.
But, I repeat, we also do not convert people. If he is trying this hard to convert you, he does not understand Wicca, which means he probably doesn't take care of his karma, and he is probably not someone you should be around. Don't go.
Bright blessings.

and you should be!
any group can be conservative, moderate or extreme.
Wicca is not a group with standardized practices. its fringes range from evil satan culters all the way to friendlies like Sabrina the teenage witch.
sacrifices may include but are not limited to - a piece of fruit, an interesting rock, a valued personal item, a small animal, a large animal all the way up to virgin sacrifice.
a lot of these groups also use it for an excuse to have wild orgies or to run naked through the forests like happy sylphs.
dont take our word for it though, call your local FBI field office and ask about the conclusions drawn for a few of the thousands that go missing all the time.
and this is a 'new' friend? hmmmmmmmmm
other than that the TRUE practitioners of wicca dont bother us one bit. its the other dilettantes that screw it up.
meet the others?
sounds like a bad scary movie.
you feel uneasy, TRUST YOUR FEELINGS /DO NOT GO/ LOSE THE NEW FRIEND
remember we are the council of golden retrievers, we do not know you, but know this, we care about you.

There is nothing wrong with wicca. Your friend is a little off his rocker, though. I'd skip the trip and the friendship then read up on wicca on your own. It's very interesting stuff, and you may learn something!

If your friend is trying to force you, you should do your best to fight his influence. Wicca does not incorporate doing bad things to people. He is dabbling in darker practices. Get away from him and his mountain lake. If you are feeling uneasy, please don't go.

Your friend is a fluff bunny. Go to www.witchvox.com and look for the term fluff bunny or Play-gan. That's your friend. It's people like him that annoy the pee out of serious Pagans.

Don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable. For the record, though, people who study and practice it are usually good people, and would never do anything to harm anyone.
