To keep him quiet so it is easier for the guards to handle him. I know it isn't fair, but that is why they do those things, by giving the prisoners privileges like that, they are less likely to make trouble, they stay calm, and behave.

Okay, I spent 20 months in Prison in Oklahoma. I had no TV, and I worked hard labor most of the time. Why do you people think that all prisons/states are the same? They ARE NOT!
I ate food with "For Inmate Consumption Only," stamped on the box. The Dentist in prison, won't put a filling in, but they will pull your tooth. I had a total starch diet. I lived with mice and lice. Staph infection was running rampid and our families had to call the State Health department and they shut the prison down, until they had cleaned every inch and all of our clothes were washed in some kind of speacil soap from the DOH. Mold in the showers, it was horrible. There was no equipment to exercise with. Federal Prisons are the cushie prisons. Some states may be better than Oklahoma, but it was no walk in the park. Everyone thinks you can get a free education? yes, for the people that don't have a high school education and they HAVE to get their GED while incarcerated. You can get an Associate degree, but it comes out of you families pocket, not the states. As always, after typing this again and again, I was in for forgery, everybody wants to know. Take it from someone that has been down.

Because in the UK, murdering two little girls gets you a cushy comfortable cell, satelite TV, three square meals a day, education classes and a better standard of life than some people get on the "outside".

all prisoners have cable or sattelite... they feel they have the right to have it... i never had sattelite or cable until a few years ago. you also want to hear something F****ed up? the sex offenders in prison get to watch porn on their tv. because when they blocked that then in some state they sued the state saying they had the right to watch it and won....

Well you got to feel sorry for him really, I mean, I know he's a disgusting paedophile and murderer, but he has no friends, no family, and I reckon everywhere he goes in that prison he gets attacked and bullied.
The money we pay on taxes will always be spent on something - we're hardly going to get it back - so I'd rather it were spent on a telly then Tony's next holiday.

I think it's sick, he does not deserve any privledges at all, no one who is in prison does, otherwise why be sent there!
I know someone who works in the prison service and the things he tells me are sickening, they get ps2, they have there own argos style catalogue where they choose the things they want! it's not punishment.

Are you going to be the one to go into his cell and disconnect it? Or tell him it is going to be disconnected? No offense, but I think that we should be more worried about the wrongly convicted people in jail, the developmentally disabled in jail, and those in jail simply because our puritan values can't allow to accept that people aren't going to give up pot and prostitution. By getting those people out, Mr. Huntley's sattlelite tv bill is much less of a financial issue.

yes it is wrong, he seems to have a very comfortable life. means he can while away the time and fill his brain with rubbish telly, rather than being alone and having to actually think about his crime and the consequences of what he did.
Our government is mad and our prisons are like holidya camps.
BRING BACK HARD LABOUR !!!
