We have put our faith in the Lord to take care of us. Now my boyfriend will have to pawn his guitar so we can pay rent. What are we suppose to do? We both work, I work 40 hrs. a week, he works for himself doing carpentry work, Honestly. We tithe, we give every week faithfully. We thought we were doing the right thing, now he wonders what he has done wrong, he says, am I not praying right, I feel foolish for counting on God to help me with this, I hate to hear that. I try to have childlike faith and know the Lord is taking care of me.

i would say God expects you to take care of yourself first, then give to others,,,,, so i personally while asking for God's help and guidance,, would not expect to be taken care of,,,, nor would i tithe until i knew i had my rent paid ,,,

First thing you need to do is realize that your money is not "your" money. It all belongs to God. You are on the right track with giving your first to God, which is your tithe.

But, what are you doing with the rest? How are you showing God you are a good steward of the money He has given you? I was in massive credit card debt. I took a class, a Christian based study, called Crown Financial. It uses the percentage system to manage your finances.

It works.

Check into www.crown.org. It's their website. It is chock full of information on how to manage your finances Biblically.

Did you know that there are over 200 scriptures relating directly to handling your finances?

This is the new year. Start now. You can download their percentage system, and you can find out where a class is being held. All you have to do is buy the books. They are worth the money.

Next month, the month of January, begin by writing down EVERYTHING you spend money on. And that means even a pack of gum. Do that for a month. Be faithful. Don't omit even a 5 cent purchase. You will be surprised where your money goes, and it will give you a guideline on how to budget.

Budget: for some it's a nasty word. But think of it this way. You're using the same money as if you didn't have a budget. But, you are shifting the money around to spend it on things you really want, instead of blindly wasting it on stuff you don't really care about.

About the guitar. Be grateful that your boyfriend has a guitar in which to sell to pay the rent. Put that on your wish list. Beginning in January, begin to set aside a little fund to get him a new guitar. Just get a jar, and every night, empty your change into that jar. You will be surprised how quickly it adds up. On your budget, just round out to the higher dollar when you spend, so that money will be accounted for.

God Bless you. Yes, you can trust God, with everything. He helps us by providing us with resources to use. Crown Financial is the best I have ever studied.

Are you living with a budget? There is sacrifice that has to be made at times, at one time we had to cut cable and cutting back on eating out. You may even have to cut on internet expenses. Are you extravagantly living above your means? These are questions that you need to examine and then determine how to get your finances in order. Is this because of an unforseen event that took place, or a gradual chain of events? But I believe it also was asked earlier, are you living together? That certainly is something that goes against God's commands. We ceartinly are called to tithe, but God also asks us to be good stewards with what he has given us, be it in the parable one talent, or 10 talents.

Belief in God is just that hon, faith. And if you truly have faith and gave that problem to the Lord, leave it alone. That's where we mess up. We say we have faith and believe, but at the 1st sight of trouble, we try to fix it, and that's just not going to work or happen. I say wait it out. Part of tithing and believing is knowing that God will bring you out of it. Don't pawn the guitar, just wait and see what happens! I guarantee you the Lord will bless you! It happens to me DAILY!

Their are so many organizations that will help you pay your rent. Contact your landlord and ask if he/she knows of any organizations in your area that will help with rental payments. I manage property in Kentucky and I have help hundreds of residents just like yourself find assistanance. You may want to call community action, catholic social services (you don't have to be catholic) churches, adult socail services and tenant services if you have one in your area. If you need any further assistance I would be happy to help. you can e-mail me at gjan1996@ yahoo.com. Good luck

Are you living together without being married?
Maybe this is why you can't pay rent. Living faithfully requires you to be married. Maybe God wants you to live apart until that happens.

What should come first is rent, utilities, food, gas, your well being.

Tithing should be last on the list.
