You'll need to feed your miniature pinscher high-grade dog food. The first ingredient should be meat if you want a quality product. Crude protein should be no less than 30 percent and crude fat no less than 20 percent. The fiber content needs to be 4 percent or less. Growing puppies need about one half to one ounce of dry, premium dog food per pound of body weight every day. This is distributed throughout 3 to 4 meals. Once he gets a little older, you can distribute the same amount over 2 meals.

Sorry, but Iams and Beneful are terrible foods.
I would suggest Natural Balance (all stages), Innova, Wellness or Canidae.
Some sort of meat should be the first few ingredients, avoid foods with corn, wheat (common allergen), soy and by-products.
The foods I listed above cannot be found at the grocery store or Wal-mart. You have to purchase them through a feed supply or Petco/PetSmart. You won't see them advertised because they spend their money on quality ingredients, not marketing. They are more expensive then the crap foods (Purina, Pedigree, Science Diet, Iams, etc) but your dog will get more out of a healthier food, therefor it will take less of the food to fill your dog up resulting (in the long run) in you spending the same amount of money on dog food as you would buying the cheap crap all the time.
As far as how much to feed, follow the guidelines on the bag. Remember though that these are only guidelines.

I feed my 6 month old min pin (what color min pin) do you have Purina One Puppy dry dog food. My vet said that is top dog food and that I personally notice that her coat is super shiny and soft. She also responds very well to the dog food (high energy, active). I give her about a 1/2 a cup (I don't feed what's on the bag because I find that it's too much, since I mix the dry food with the canned food).
I also mix the dry food with canned food (Alpo) which I DO NOT (I'm currently thinking about switching my canned dog food to another brand more top notch). I give her about 1/4 of the canned food and mix it in.
I do recommend though Purina One Dry Dog Food Puppy Formula (they have a few to choose from). Good Luck.
PS. The Miniature Pisncher is realted to the Domberman Pinscher which both are decendence of the German Pinscher. The Miniature Schnauzer and Miniature Pinshcher orginated from the same family of dogs as well as the Affenpinscher. THe term "pinscher" refers to "the working dog" kind of a description.

without knowning what country you are in its rather impossible to say a food
Austria?? Argentina?? Australia??
2 rules of thumb - Grocery and Wal Mart only sell LOW QUALITY food...
- if you see alot of commercials for a food you can be assured its crap with lots of filler and little nutrition
Read the ingredients list... a good meat source should be #1.. by-products are NOT meat.. they are beaks feet feathers - a cheap filler and are preserved with a chemical pesticide Ethoxyquin...which is banned in some countires (like Japan) but is hidden on your ingredient list becuase its considered part of the by-product
with the better foods you feed less and there is less poop

I own 2 min pins I buy them Royal Canin. They're a great dog food it improved my dogs coat and keeps them full. I give 1/3 cup in morning & 1/3 cup at night. My vet said he noticed a difference in them & they are very healthy. Good luck with your puppy. You can get the food @ Petco or Petsmart or on line. If its not enough food give him more & if he starts to get chubby cut it back a little at a
time. Make sure you feed him @ the same times everyday that will help with potty training.

I agree with one of the responses that most commercial dog foods are unacceptable. If you want to find quality food, you'll need to spend a bit more and look in pet stores or online for a quality food. Many commercial dog foods contain horrific ingredients. The laws for the quality of pet foods is extremely low. Sick, lame and severely diseased animals are often ground up for dog food, and any other animal product not fit for human consumption. Dogs and cats that were once pets or found wild that have been euthanized are often tossed into the grinder whole (with their collars still on) and full of chemicals. Old food not suitable for stores is often tossed into the mix, plastic/styrofoam container and all. Along with some of the lesser known quality brands, you might also consider cruelty free dog food for your cutie little pinscher. (They are the cutest, aren't they!?) Organizations, such as PETA, have revealed what goes on in commercial dog food production facilities. The products are tested on dogs that are mistreated and left to suffer in horrible conditions. Also, dogs (unlike cats) are not true carnivores. They are omnivorous, like people. So, it is possible (with great care to nutrition!) to put your puppy on a homemade diet or even a vegetarian diet. If you decide to make your dog's food, do some research. You can do a search for Vegedog which sells a complete nutritional supplement that you can add to your dog's homemade food to make sure he's getting all the nutrients you need. I have a six month old puppy that I feed a quality brand cruelty free food (not available in the states, but you can find similar products) and mix it in with homemade food (with the supplement powder, yeast, and enzymes/probiotics). My puppy loves it, and he's very healthy, at a great weight, and the vet is always happy with his coat, weight and growth. He loves to eat though! Be careful not to overfeed your dog, especially a small breed. MinPins are actually a type of terrier (not related to the pinscher... lol) and have a hunter-ly attitude, so he may want to scrounge a lot and constantly try to eat. Good luck with that! As a side-note, there have been studies of vegetarian dogs living to be in their mid-twenties! As meat eating humans are more likely to get cancer and other diseases than vegetarians, so are meat eating dogs. Many people are surprised to find that many dogs are actually allergic to beef! (Try to imagine your MInPin taking down a cow?!) Some brands of pet food, made for dogs with allergies, are actually vegetarian brands, because this food is suitable for dogs with sensitive diets.
