I think you should wait a couple of years just so that you can be certain that a tatoo on your head is what you really want. Tatoos hurt alot and I would think that a tattoo on your head would probably hurt more than on any other part of your body. I got a tatoo on my back at the age of 23 and at 30 I believe I should have waited. Just take some time to think it through.

Body mods are the most personal of expressions and, being PERMANENT, should require long and serious thought. If you decide to go ahead with your idea, there are many good artists out there who can help you with your tat. Just because you ran into one who was unsure of his talent doesn't mean it won't get done. I worked as an exotic piercer in a shop for ten years & saw many head tats that came out just fine. If, after long, serious thought, you decide to go through with your project, try the telephone first, then ask to see portfolios of artists' work &, if possible, talk to other clients who have had work done. Just remember, bottom line, it's there FOREVER! P.S: You're RIGHT, they hurt like HELL and are sore for days, and must be cleaned fastidiously, two or three times a day religiously.

there is nowhere interior of u.s. the place you could legally get a tattoo at your age. some states provide help to get a tattoo with parental permission in case you're sixteen. maximum require you to be 18 regardless of if or no longer your mothers and fathers enable it. in case you attempt to locate a place that'll tattoo you presently or any time under 18 without parental permission, you will maximum in all possibility finally end up with a terrible tattoo (the only people who'd smash those regulations are not very good at what they do), and that they had in all possibility compromise your protection (reusing needles, or otherwise no longer attempting to steer clear of the unfold of disease). to no longer point out, in lots of states this is a legal to tattoo a minor. There are some international places that have diverse regulations from u.s. concerning tattooing. So, you will ought to return and forth to a diverse usa.

My friend from church has a tatoo on his head that he got when he was younger (your age!)
The only reason we see it now is b/c he shaves his head on purpose. Do you plan on shaving your hair for the rest of your life to be able to see your tattoo? And yes he said it hurt like crazy!
Also, I will have to agree that job hunting when you are a little older will be very difficult for you. Most companies make employees cover any tat that is showing - for example, a lady that I worked with before in a hospital had to wear long sleeve turtlenecks even in July - b/c of her tats.
Please consider the placement of your tattoo before you go forward with this idea.

Well, on Miami Ink (which you should be watching, BTW), Ami got super-pissed when his apprentice Yoji got a head tattoo (it said, "Made in Japan") because he felt like it was just too extreme. And I mean, Yoji's tattooed all over, but Ami gets a lotta flak for just his neck tattoo and he didn't want Yoji to go with something even crazier. Yoji thought he was gonna get fired for getting a head tat.
And these dudes work in a shop! They know the issues behind it. Tattoo your entire body...and if you still need your head tattooed, go ahead. But tattoo normal places first.

Doesn't sound too bad, would probably hurt.... But unlike everyone else, if you want to get a job that doesn't like tattoos, GROW YOUR HAIR OUT.... It can be seen when you want it to and if you have a full head of hair, no one will know about it unless you tell them.... I say if you really, really, REALLY want it on your head. Go for it....
Also, most corporate jobs wouldn't hire you anyway if you have a mohawk, therefore, they wouldn't not hire you just because of the tattoo, it would PROBABLY be the whole picture that they don't like.... To have to shave your head everyday so you can see you tattoo isn't bad. To not have to shave your head everyday, so you can't see your tattoo isn't bad!

hahaha, these people are idiots. Head tattoos are definately painful, I'm sure, but plenty people have them so you can obviously handle it. Also, the tattoo artist probably didn't want to do it because its hard to heal properly, and they didn't want people thinking they're putting bad work out there. So, just find a good artist and make sure you show him that you know what you're getting yourself into with the healing. But you should probably learn how to spell tattoo first.

HAS NO ONE WATCHED DOCUMENTARIES AND RIPLEY'S??? There are okes who have tattooed their entire bodies even down there and their heads and they still seem to function fine. It hurts but not as much as some other tattoos and eventually the pain becomes calming...according to my colleague. And that other chick is right... you can grow your hair and no one will see a thing - I think it's a pretty wicked place to get a tat. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Do you have other tattoos yet? If not, a shop may be reluctant to put your first tattoo on your head.
I say, if you want it, you're legal, go for it.
My husband has his whole head tattooed, he said it made his teeth chatter, and the worst part was above the ears.
Good luck.
