I have an anxiety disorder, and I've been particularly anxious lately. I've been hearing things (buzzing) and seeing things (people's faces seem to change into something inhuman, but when I look more closely the face is normal again). I also sense 'awareness' in things like paintings of faces, even in a pillow...

I have been put on tranquilizers and lexapro (an SSRI) so things have calmed down now. But when I research anxiety disorders on the web, I don't see these symptoms. Does anybody else with anxiety disorders have something similar?

I too have GAD. Personally I haven't experienced the things you are asking about.
The best thing you can do is to make an appointment with your doctor and tell her/him what's going on.
I do know this, the human mind is a very awesome thing. We understand very little about it. What you are experiencing could be part of GAD, or medication, or another additional disorder. Rather than try to deal with it on your own go back to your doctor. There are good solutions to what is going on in your life.
Best of luck to you.

I'm on lexapro also for GAD and I'm a nurse. I have never heard of your symptoms with GAD. Sounds more like bipolar disorder.
Have you told your MD what's been going on with you?
I think you should see a psychiatrist who can PROPERLY diagnose you and put you on the correct medication like an anti psychotic.
I hope you find what you need. Good luck!

No, it doesn't. These are psychotic symptoms. Sometimes before people have a first psychotic break they present with a lot of anxiety symptoms. You may also be getting somewhat manic from your Lexapro which is causing psychotic symptoms. Or, the opposite -- if you are severely depressed you can become psychotic too. There may also be something medically going on with you too. (Brain tumor, thyroid problem, seizures, etc.) . Please go see a doctor ASAP.

i have gad and partial agoraphobia and chronic depression and sometimes i think i'm halucinating. I'll see things out of the corner of my eyes, i'll think people are talking about me etc when they're in the same room as me also i have very vivid memorys that seem a little too much like a halucination. but i also use to huff gasoline when i was younger and that causes you to see things but that was 8 yrs ago.

I think you either need a better diagnosis or to quit medication.
