I don't know a whole lot about the Muslim faith, but it is my understanding that they believe that Christ was just another profit and that Muhammad was the next (aka last) profit after Christ. Hope this helps.

Mr. zloewez, the answer is simple. Some people call it "shifting the goalposts" others may call it a "diversion". The bottom line is that there is an AWFUL lot to get defensive about in the islamic religion, and sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

There are countless shortcomings in islam and all the problems can be traced right back to its founder Mohammed. Muslims are of course taught not to think critically about the religion's questionable discovery. In fact they are taught to believe that Mohammed was merely a messenger AND that Islam has always been on the planet (even though there is absolutely no evidence that islam as a religion existed on the planet before mohammed).

Instead of looking at their own religion, they look to the weakest points of other religions. I am neither Jewish nor Christian, but when I bring up these sensitive questions to muslims they immediately start attacking either Christianity or Judaism. I have to tell them "I don't care about your hatred of these other religions- how about answering my question?"

And of course they never really do answer the questions.

The ones who do answer you end up leaving Islam- after being forced to confront the truth.

Well, for starters, Muslims will weigh whether the question was asked by a sincere asker seeking for knowledge or otherwise. If we think that the question is free from bigotry, we would be more than glad to provide the asker with proper explanations, based on the holy Quran, the Prophet's sunnah (prophetic traditions), and the works of prominent Imams of Islam, usually the accepted exegesis (interpretation) of the holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah.

For instance:

Question:

Can the Verse 25:52 (do Jihad with Quran)which was revealed in Mecca interpritared to bring about a political revolution/not to obey constitution(obey not the disbelievers)in a country where Muslims are not in power? If this is not the correct interpritation then what is the correct interpritation as the word used is Jihad? Thank you.

Answer:

The verse reads:

"and therefore do not obey Kafireen and strive against them with this (i.e. the Qur'an), a great strive".

The verses preceding explain that although the truth has been clearly brought forward to people, yet they do not accept it. The verse is addressing the Prophet (pbuh) in his capacity as a Messenger who is sent by God for the manifestation of the truth for the addressees). The verse directs the Prophet (pbuh) to strive with those who have not accepted the truth even after the truth has become manifest to them (Kafireen) and not to obey them. Obedience here means to follow the desires of Kafireen who wanted the Prophet (pbuh) to compromise his divine mission. Striving with the Qur'an (given that the verse is revealed in Mecca) means to attack their poor arguments with the firm arguments of the Qur'an. (This is just before the next phase of the mission of the Prophet, where he leaves Kuffar because of their rejection of truth and then starts fighting with them as manifestation of God's punishment for those who reject a messenger of God).

As you can see the verse is not even remotely close to the idea of 'bringing political revolution in a country where Muslims are not in power'.

That's one example.

But, if we find that the question is laden with almost obvious elements of sacrilege and bigotry, we would either:
1. trash the asker's question back at his face by doing what he did best - mere cutting and pasting Quranic verses or Prophetic traditions without proper explanation.
2. or kindly explain to him the real thing in a graceful and respectful manner.

And yeah, not to forget, report as abuse. Muslims are humans with emotions too although indeed, the latter is what God in the holy Quran has commanded us (Muslims) to do.

God knows best.

Peace and Love.

TRUE Christianity does NOT follow the 10 Commandments...
"Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them." Ephesians 2:15

Jesus said he didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17) The effect was the same. The law is NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

Urm, Christians are supposed to pay attention to the Old Testiment. Did you think they were supposed to ignore everything in there? Why do you think it's included in the Bible?

Besides, if The OT is redundant why do Christian fundies wave Genesis about in everyone's face as proof of God creating the Universe?

b/c only muslims who can be bothered to sit on American website in the middle of Friday are the fundamentalist ones.

Fundamentalist Christians react exactly the same way.

The theological differences you mention are an excuse for hate, not the reason. Reading same Quran does not stop Shias and Sunnis from killing each other. Just like reading same bible did not stop bloodbath in Europe's middle ages.
