As we are not scientists let us simply see the issue logically.. It may be due to sun's influence on all planets not just the Earth is one theory... the theory of man-made warming that you doubt as myth is another... let us consider the two for a layman analysis purely on logical ground...
Both the above theories (there may be other theories as well but we restrict to these two as they are more popular and doing the rounds) have emerged from scientists (whether chemists, climatologists or whaterver) and we shall give equal ear to both and weigh on logical merits...
That Earth is warming is agreed by both but the former argue that it is the natural phenomenon happening all over the sun's family of planets... OK.. It is also true that we are generating lot of green house gases that mix with the atmosphere and are likely to hike up the ambient temperature... We also know that the ozone layer has been pierced by the CFC gases since we have photographed the layer ... we find the impact of increased temperature in the melting of the polar ice, changes in weather pattern etc... So even if the primary heating up is due to solar radiation, why should we add up to it our contribution through generation of more and more GH gases?
Further we have also badly interfered with the forest wealth for our alternate (civic, industrial, irrigation and other) uses and the scavenging of CO2 by the flora (for their starch production) and replenishment with O2 (the by product of photosynthesis) had been lost badly... On the one side we have reduced the natural purification process and on the other increasing the pollution with more toxic gases...
Even if the primary heat up is from solar sources, the secondary heating by man made causes could be reduced to prevent the evil consequences, is it not?
I am afraid more than the logic the theories of conflict are always sown to confuse the people... The developing countries are not asked to stop their industrialisation, but to take corresponding measures to prevent the evils of warming up...Like afforestation, use of alternate energies (other than fossil fuels) etc...

Actually, if you do some research you will see that while there is a difference of opinion in the scientific community, most of that community takes this threat very seriously. You might also want to look at the credentials of the very vocal few scientists in the US who say global warming is not a threat. I have done so and it was very eye opening. Then compare their standing to the very well respected numbers who believe in this threat. While there are some good and some not so respected on both sides you will find that the sheer number of serious scientists do believe we have a real problem.
For those of you that do not believe, can you explain the arctic ice cap melt? The winter freeze is diminishing to the point that scientists are now estimating the Arctic seaway will be open year round possibly as early as 2040.
Can you explain the higher water levels and tides in the South Pacific. Villages have already been relocated on some islands due to higher levels.
Can you explain the glacier melts in Nepal? or even in Glacier National Park on our own continent. 3 out of 15 floes remain.
Some of this may be natural but there is no 'serious' doubt that we are accelerating the warming. Continue to disbelieve if you wish. Unfortunately your children and other generations down the line will not have that luxury.

I think there is plenty of evidence to support global warming itself. There is no doubt that average temperatures are higher now than they were a few hundred years ago. Glaciers and polar ice caps are melting.
The more important issues are what is the effect of this warming, and what is causing it? And to follow that, do we need to be concerened about it? The earth has gone through a few freeze-thaw cycles in its history. We've had ice ages where half of what is now the US was covered with ice for centuries. Is what we are experiencing now just part of that cycle, or is it due to something we've done? Nobody has really answered that question with any hard, scientific evidence (in my opinion). However, there is no doubt that we are grossly throwing off the equilibrium that this planet has provided for us and we should do something to fix that.

Actually, no they don't Politicians reasons vary widely on scientist's opinions on the current reasons for world temp rise.
GWB's administration has muzzled the scientific community's reports, distorted the facts to its favor, and placed political leaders in charge of the government scientific committees.
The world's ice shelfs are breaking apart at an alarming rate. We have had more record high temps in the last decade than many years before that. Coral bleaching, industrial pollution, and many other things are alarm bells.
Seems to me that certain types of people like to pretend that all is well, and prefer ignorance to scientific research.

I think the idea of global warming is being used to try to get people to take better care of the environment - whether or not it's a myth I don't know - there are too many open arguments about this one right now to know for sure. Some say that other planets in our solar system are also getting warmer, and it has to do with the sun getting hotter rather than us polluting the earth.
But even if it is a myth, it won't hurt to have people try to take better care of the world around us.

Global warming is mostly good for media and therefore (partially at least) a media creation. We seem to need some challenges in our lives so we turn to the media for help. It keeps the media in business. I grew up in the 70's and I can recall that the ozone layer was going to be gone by now, there was going to be no drinkable water by now, and most of the species in the oceans of the world were supposed to be extinct by now.
Take care of our planet, recycle, be good to the earth - but don't stay up at night wringing your hands over global warming or any other media-created hype.

The myth is that there is no Global Warming. This myth is spread by scientists and the media who work for the people who would lose out economically if we did finally manage to work together to try and advert a disaster. Its not about politics, it is about survival!

Really, I think that this is really coming true and all, with all the predictions. The large glaciers are melting and our winters are warmer and our summers are hotter. Scientist will have to find a way to dispose all of this extra water or to refreeze it to maintain it normal. I would build a big plant in antartica or where ever to run pipes under the ice and keep it at a freezing stage. But that's my idea.

You betcha - it is one of those excitable non-issues that raise so much ire that it diverts people from actual and serious problems. 6 % of scientists agree that global warming exists and a good many of those aren't even climatologists. Go figure - and so many people believe that we call them the "Sheep of the Masses". We are in a normal climate cycle where earth is warmer and it has less trees as USA cuts trees to build houses by the millions to house illegals in the old houses the rich whites abandon. Go figure. Then we pay more for "antiques" ????????????

Why in the world would we wish to curb the developing world? Furthermore, it isn't the developing world that is really causing the problem. The problem lies primarily in the developed world. The developing world still has the chance to do things in such a manner that they can rely on sustainable resources and avoid fossil fuels. Global warming is just as real as is evolution, math, etc.
