Need a Debit / Switch card in order to buy tickets online (plane, rail), hotel reservations, ebay--which banks would be the best for no-hassle approval? I have proof of address, passport ID (British), etc.

Thanks for your help!

Tesco is a good one. The benefits are very good. Each point can be exchanged for 4 points for Tesco deals.

All the main high street banks are much of a muchness when it comes to generic products like this.

However, you mention using your card over the internet - one thing to consider which is a little outside this question is about your address. Unless your Bank has loaded it correctly onto their system, or if you have a slightly unusual address, like a block of flats with two house numbers then the retailers verification system will often deny the transaction.

Also, in 2007 there is going to be a change to the way in which Switch/Maestro cards are used for on-line transactions. You will need to enter your security code from the rear of the card - something which isn't essential at present. Unfortunately several of the largest card acquirers (Barclays for one) haven't planned for this so any retailers on their books who have web-sites won't be able to accept card payments for on-line purchases from Switch/Maestro card holders....

In the scheme of things I'd try one of the more "personal customer" focused providers like LloydsTSB for your card.
