Don't know why it does it, but when I wake up from tying on a good one my face is all swollen. ????? Couldn't tell ya, sorry babe.

Depending on the type of alcohol you are talking about. I assume you mean the type for consumption. It dilates the veins, which increase blood volume which will contribute to swelling.

some people don't metabolize alcohol well and can get symptoms such as puffy hands, face etc. also, like others said, over time with heavy drinking you'll have broken capillaries, especially on your nose (look at george bush's nose)

Heavy drinking causes your face to swell and your blood capillaries to break.
