Dear New Muslim,
You have a lot of studying to do and be careful what your source is. Almost all the answers above are not correct; hope you do not follow those pieces of 'advice' not 'accurate infornation'.
Here are some FACTS about fasting:
1. Fasting is refraining from food, drinks and sexual intercourse from sunrise to sunset. You can eat, drink and have sex between sunset till sunrise of the second day of your fast.
2. During fasting, you have to make sure that your manners are good and you 'fast' from bad habits and manners as well
3. You can fast for as many consecutive days as you wish
4. There are days when fasting is recommended: Mondays and Thursdays, three days in the middle of the hijri month, Arafa day (today) if you are not on Hajj, etc
5. There are days when fasting is not allowed: the first day of Al-Fitr day, Fridays and Saturdays if fasted without days before or after them, etc
The link below will help you explore Islam in more depth.
Happy Adha Eid
Peace

Fasting can be just one meal or days. It can be a water fast, a Food fast, or both. The idea of a fast is to take that time and seek the presence of God. This can be for healing, service empowerment, or just worship. It all depends on how you feel lead by the Lord.

If you're fasting for the sake of fasting, be sure to drink water. Some religious fasts do not allow water, though.

Just food. All the fasting rules I've read have stated that you can drink as much water as you want. If you must eat (blood sugar or what not), then the sum of what you eat all day cannot equal one meal.

Depends on how long you plan on fasting. If you are only fasting for a day, you could probably go without water as well (though I don't recommend it as the human body dehydrates quicker than you think).

Just food I think. You may drink water. I have never fasted, so not really sure.

For some Christians, you can even fast from something like the computer. The idea is to take the time you would have spent doing a certain thing and devote the time to seeking God.

Be serious-no one can live without water for any length of time. The idea of fasting isn't to damage one's health and that is what you would do if you didn't drink fluids.
