Pick a bunch of english movies that you really enjoy. Watch them first with subtitles on so you can understand the story, then watch them again and again without subtitles until you have memorized as much as you possibly can. Then repeat the lines just before the characters do in the movie and listen to confirm you said it right. Repeat with as many movies as you can take.

hehe :)
Language is power, Im trying to improve my english too mate.
There are a lot of ways, but I can tell you mine ;)
Read a lot,
when watching a movie or something change the subtitles to english or nothing,
try to talk a lot, you know to improve your pronounceiation
when there is a word you dont understand, you check it up in the dictionary - but if you really want to remember it write it down in a sentence you made up by yourself
One word I could'nt was "lagoon" so I check it out, since I live in Sweden (altough I am not originally från Sweden) it was still hard for me to understand what lagoon really was - so I wrote "lagoon" in google's (www.google.com) image search. There I saw a lot of different pictures of a lagoon. And now, after one year I still know what a lagoon is ;).
And now when you know what lagoon is, right it down in a sentence, for example; "the boat slowly reached the lagoon" or something like that.
But the best thing is to read and speak h#ll of lot, read, read and read more :) It's not important what you read only as you read :) so it becomes a habbit - and once it has then maybe it's easy to start reading classic or modern books and so on ;)
I hope you understood, you see I am trying to improve my english too - and you can never improve or learn to much of anything.
Good Luck!

Read, read, read and talk with people who use good english skills.
Listen to books on tape and have fun learning new words on a regular basis.
Check out grammar usage sites on the internet or go to the library and check out books on english language usage.
Have fun.
