As sala'amu alei'kum, azizi.
You must understand that Mohammad declared this Concept of the Houris to people whom he was preparing for battle where they needed motivation and the capacity to become fearless of death.
This is why he created these verses where they promised not only the virgin houris, but even virgin little boys to motivate the homosexuals among them.and streams of wine such as were heavenly and lots of fruits and meats.
These were contained in Sura - 55 (Al-Rahma'an) which were changed later when the editions of the Koran were made.
A hadith by al Bukhari, Mohammads favourite scribe, vol.2:161 p.92, says that the women go to Hell. This is again, borne out by the Shahih Muslim vol.2:1926 p.417 and Ibn-i-Majah vol.5:4003 p.320; all of whom quote Mohammad of saying this.
The Koran was initially written by scribes to whom the illiterate Mohammad dictated and most verses were memorized and recited by the Faithful.
During the reign of the Second Caliph Omar, he ordered all the handwritten scripts of the Koran to be brought to him and had them burnt so that the version that he had created would be the standard version for all to read.
The scribes who had worked with Mohammad had fled upon his death, because they knew that if they were caught, they would end up beheaded.
However, many of the original manuscripts escaped the prosecution of Omar as did many of the scribes whose biographies of Mohammad, also survived to tell the true tale.
While we can be critical, today, of Mohammad and his Associates, in those days and under those conditions, it would not have been an uncondoneable thing to do.
Islam was born out of War, for a War and preached War. It's Agenda for World Domination is just a continuance of the legacy of Mohammad's desire which is perpetuated by his followers.
This is why I have turned my back on this Religion that I was born into; while I still cherish the Concept of Allah or God, who is our Father , the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficient, in whose Name I reject the lies told by men against His Divine Will.
May Peace and Blessings be upon all of you.
Ma sala'amah, ya azizi.

Hoor mentioned in the Qur’an
The word hoor occurs in the Qur’an in no less than four different places:
(1) In Surah Dukhan chapter 44, verse 54
"Moreover, We shall join them to companions
With beautiful, big and lustrous eyes."
[Al-Qur’an 44:54]
(2) In Surah Al-Tur chapter 52 verse 20
"...And We shall join them to companions, with beautiful,
big and lustrous eyes."
[Al-Qur’an 52:20]
(3) In Surah Rahman chapter 55 verse 72
"Companions restrained (as to their glances), in goodly pavilions."
[Al-Qur’an 55:72]
(4) In Surah Al-Waqiah chapter 56 verse 22
"And (there will be) companions with beautiful, big and lustrous eyes."
[Al-Qur’an 56:22]
2. Hoor Translated as Beautiful Maidens
Many translators of the Qur’an have translated the word hoor as ‘beautiful maidens’ especially in the Urdu translations. If hoor means ‘beautiful maidens’ or girls, then they are meant only for the men. Hence, what will the women get if they enter Paradise?
3. Meaning of Hoor
The word hoor is actually the plural of ahwar (applicable to man) and of haura (applicable to woman) and signifies a person having eyes characterized by hauar a special quality bestowed upon a good soul, male or female in paradise and it denotes the intense whiteness of the white part of the spiritual eye.
The Qur’an describes in several other verses that in paradise you will have azwaj which mean a pair or spouse or companion which means you will have spouses or companions pure and holy (mutaharratun means pure, holy).
"But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say: "Why, this is what we were fed with before", for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions pure (and holy); and they abide therein (forever)".
[Al-Qur’an 2:25]
"But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal home; therein shall they have companions pure and holy: we shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening". [Al-Qur’an 4:57]
Therefore the word hoor has no specific gender. Mohammad Asad has translated the word hoor as spouse and Abdullah Yusuf Ali as companion. Therefore according to some scholars a man in paradise will have a hoor that is a beautiful maiden with beautiful big and lustrous eyes and a woman in paradise will get a man with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.
4. Women will get something exceptional in Paradise
Many scholars say that in context, the word hoor used in the Qur’an refers only to ladies since gents are addressed. A reply that would be accepted by all types of people would rather be the answer given in the Hadith when a similar question was posed that if a man gets a hoor, a beautiful Maiden in Paradise, then what will the women get? The reply was that the women will get that which the heart has not desired for, the ear hasn’t heard off and the eye hasn’t seen, indicating that even the women will get something exceptional in Paradise.

As if male muslims would let women in. Don't you know how sexist they are.
It implies in the bible women can't go to heaven. Says the people of the 12 tribes who go can't have defiled themselves with women - which obviously means they couldnt actually BE women.

I am a muslim girl and I have never asked myself this question and the answer does not make a difference to me. All that matters is Allah to be pleased with me as a muslim. I believe in His justice. I only look forward to seeing Him.
Peace

I wasn't going to answer this. I just opened it to see what the muslims had to say about it.
Isn't it odd that not a single one has answered the question? They're usually right on to questions about their religion.
Come on guys - give us an answer (and one of those nice long quotes from the Koran too!).
EDIT: Thanks, Hijab - you just beat me to it!

Close your eyes. What do you see. That is the same thing that an islamic woman is promised. In most cases they have little or no rights. That makes their religion wrong to begin with. All people are created equal.
