I got my new kittens over a week ago, and since...about Tuesday they are starting to use my legs as scratching posts. They jump on my leg and climb up onto my lap, using my leg as a ladder
(With their claws out). They draw blood sometimes and I dont know how to stop them.
Ive used a spray bottle, a scratching post to see if they use that instead and the old word ''NO''. But nothing is working.

Any ideas?

Apart from this, they are gorgeous little things and dont hiss at all. They dont claw furniture, just me!

I play with them 24/7. They have tons of toys and big space to run around in.

Go buy a scratching post from the pet store. Or get a strip of old carpet and a 4-6 foot peice of 2x4 and attach the carpet to the 2x4. esentialy that's all you're getting at the pet shop. Then as soon as they are old enough get their from claws removed. It is very common and does not effect them at all as far as growth or whether thy can go out or not. Cats will scratcj and climb their whole life so imagine them when they weight 10-15 lbs and they grab your leg or your new couch...

I don't have anything new to add. You are already on the right path, however I did want to mention that in the not too far future they will stop because they will be too big to climb up your leg. Also, I don't know about the clipping the nails suggestion....my experience has been if I clip they scratch attempting to sharpen them back up! My cat of 15 yrs died this year and I really, really, want to get a kitten (2 really...so they would have a playmate), but your situation (and all else that comes with having these darling little animals!) is something that I remind myself about constantly so I will continue to resist the urge!

Good luck.

You might want to try tapping the end of their nose with your finger when they start to do that. Cats often hate it.

Now while they are kittens is the best time to get them used to you clipping their nails. You can use regular nail clippers or go buy some at a pet store.

I have two cats that I've had since they were kittens and have clipped their nails on a regular basis since they were tiny - they are used to me doing it and don't put up much fuss about it, and the best part is that the NEVER scratch me or my furniture. Even tho' you say yours aren't scratching furniture, they probably will begin to once they are a little older unless you nip it in the bud early.

That's there way of trying to get close to you. My cat use to do it when she was a kitten when I was feeding her. I would be standing up at the counter and she would work her way up my leg. She grew out of it. I'm sure your Kittens will too.

But for now, go get some scratching posts and they also have these cardboard things that cats love.

I would first get a container and place coins inside. When your kittens jump on you say NO, and then shake the change in the container. You will not hurt them this way. The noise startles them and they will learn the word NO. This will be helpful throughout their (your) lifetime with them.

I would then purchase a large scratching post and play area. They want your attention as well as want to play. PLAY WITH THEM AT THEIR PLAY AREA.

This is why I don't like cats, There cute and I don't mind it if other people have them but there not for me, I use to have cats years ago until one night I came home kind of late and my cat jumped on me with all fours, claws dug in pretty deep, from that day forward no cats have entered this house.

Wear jeans, that should reduce the damage. They will grow out of it.
