If you have been having insomnia for months now you should talk with your Doctor first. Sometimes people are under some kind of stress when this happens. I know if I am stressed, depressed or emotionally upset I suffer from insomnia. If you are under some kind of stress sometimes trying to reduce it can help. If not related to stress then something that has helped me is about an hour or two before bed take a long warm bath, dim the lights or use candle light, Soft music or meditation....no TV! As sometimes TV will be too stimulating. try to clear your thoughts and imagine you are somewhere peaceful...The beach with a gentle breeze always helped me....I hope this has been help full!

You won't become addicted to sleeping pills. And if this is a major problem in your Life, you should seriously consider taking them on a regular basis. I have insomnia too, and believe me, nothing works except medication. They have natural relaxants on the market that help some but are very short term effect. They have shelf after shelf of natural herbal remedies for insomnia, but in my experience nothing has helped. Try reading a VERY boring book just before sleep-time. And do not go on the Internet or watch TV 1 hour prior to when you want to sleep because they are very stimulating to the brain. Take a warm bath with candle lights, this will help a lot to relax you. Try Meditation or Yoga. Good luck!

I also have insomnia. My doctor told me to look at my lifestyle and see what I was doing that could affect it.....sleeping pills are a good way to get some rest, I would reccomend trying them on the weekend first, Friday night & Sat. night to be sure you wake up in time for work during the week (I have to take mine at 7:30pm or so during the week in order to be up by 4:30am) and to see how long you sleep and to adjust the timing of them. Herbal teas help, reading helps and the advice others have given about removing the tv/computer/radio from your room is good advice, all things my dr. has told me. Another thing I found that has helped is to keep your room cool. Not cold, but cool. I keep my house around 65 - 68 at night and that helps me sleep better than keeping it warmer. Also, try to relax and take your mind off your stresses of the day. Stress is my biggest insomnia problem and sometimes you just have to let it go. It's hard to do, but you will find your own way of letting go, write it down, talk to someone, get up and solve the problem or work out a plan to solve the problem (this is my best way actually) or whatever you do that works for you. Good luck to you.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

OK, I had the same problem before , this is what I found out ....... if you have a computer or T.V. in your room take it out . Do , not lay in your bed and watch T.V. , that will not help you fall asleep. Try reading a book , drink warm milk or have a nice glass of red wine .

My cure is a long walk, a hot shower, then go to bed and keep saying your ABC's in your head (don't say them real fast), and then breath to the rhythm
