You should definitely try callanetics!
If you don't know exactly what it is - it is an effective form of gymnastics, stretching and exercise. It will tone and strengthen your body, shape it really effectively and most importantly, it is great for the back because it helps for building core body strength (abdominals and back). They say that callanetics exercises are natural, injury-free and suitable for people of all ages and physical conditions.
Good luck :)!

Jogging. I don't think it strains your back so much. If you can't do jogging, I suggest cycling. It is relatively relaxing compared to jogging, but much slower. Jogging for 20mins give instant result, but cycling requires time.
Also take note that too intensive jogging or cycling will not help to lose weight, it will burn carbohydrates instead of fats, and build stamina. Light jogging does good, though you do not feel so tired.
Your heartbeat rate should be 65%-79% of your maximum (220 - your age). 80% and above is for stamina training. Or you can simply measure by check that you do not huff and puff at the end to hard.
For back-friendly jogging, do not lift your steps up to high as the impact will be too great and undesirable. A good running shoe is recommended because a good sole absorbs impact.
Desired exercise time is 5pm-7pm when your body is most ready for exercise. Regularity is important. Try doing about 3 times a week.
And finally, eat healthy. there is no need to avoid meat or fish but do avoid junk food. Take fatty food in moderation, do NOT skip it altogether.
Good Luck

I understand what you are going thru. I have lower back problems and found the exercise ball does work. Buy yourself one with instruction manual or dvd ... it supports your back and gives your friendly advice on bad backs. I also did alot of research before i used the ball through google - exercise ball bad back.
Good Luck and I'm glad to hear you are taking action.

Working your stomach muscles will actually help to improve your back's health. Try crunches, leg raises, etc. I would probably avoid jogging until your back feels better, the strain on your lower back and the constant pounding may do more harm than good. But an overall workout routine will benefit your whole body and in turn help with your back pain.

1) divide your meal in six brief "meal-lets" (ya ya i invented this term right now) that increases your metabolism
2) do a 15 min cardio as all the exercises targeting your abdominal will definitely disturb your back (cycling, swimming or fast walk etc.)
3) drink lots of water
4) if you've tried all three above and results are not that good then blame your parents. genetics do play a big role in body transformation. just stay the way you are and be confident
~good luck~

Start with dieting before you start exercising. A good diet plan will help you lose the weight, and being down a few pounds before starting to exercise will make any future exercise easier on your back.

To help straighten your back clench your hands behind your back and pull them as far away from your back as possible, then gently move from side to side this should help strengthen your back and shoulder muscles.
Good luck
