Hey Ashley,

Sorry for your loss. Check with the library in the area, they will have a copy of the paper from Dec 26 or 27. An Obit should be either in one of this weeks daily papers, or should be forthcomming. If this is a relative, you have the right to the Death Certificate. That may take a few more days to be processed and put into the files. You should apply to Tulare County first, then after some time the state will get the records. It looks like the County keeps the records in California, not the City of Bakersfield.

for the next few days. Obits usually come out a couple of days after the person dies. Not everyone gets an obit, so it is not a sure thing. Be prepared to wait if you have a dial-up connection; the site is loaded with 400 KB pages.
