Islam and Muslims in general are peaceful people. it is always a small minority who tarnish the image of it, in your case (about the hate mail etc) i suppose you are being targeted by Muslims in particular for several reasons 1.your nick name or whatever its called which shows that you are proud to be an EX-Muslim,
2.your repeated questions trying to create more negativity and bad comments about Muslims and
3.because of your responses to questions which prove to add fuel to the fire by making stupid and offensive comments about Islam & the prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Basically, it seems you are proud that you have become part of the kafireen, be happy for yourself and stop trying to make muslims look as bad as you look in their eyes.

You can't judge the entire religion based on the actions of not even a percent of its total believers. If Muslim were to do the same, we would have said that for instance, Christianity is a violent religion based on the Crusades which were commissioned by Pope Urban himself and Spanish Inquisition but no, we refrain from doing that, because that would be a slander - a grave sin in Islam.
If you want to understand what Islam really is, kindly spend a few dollars buying scholarly books written by world-renowned scholars of Islam, i.e. Muhammad The Prophet by Karen Armstrong, What Everyone Needs to Know about Islam by Prof John L Esposito, etc. Or if money is a problem, kindly visit www.harunyahya.com

islam means submission to the will of Allah.When one submits to the will of Allah and do what is obligatory,it's quite impossible for one to base his words and actions on emotions or become an extreme person.islam is not based on emotion like hate or extremism.rather,it is based on divine truth.
to add on further,in my opinion,the main reason why some people have negative views about islam is that they never have interact with muslims face-to-face.
regarding extremism,a true muslim reject it.
for example,the Jemaah Islamiyah wanted to bomb a train station in singapore in demand to set up an islamic state.most of them were later arrested.
in a united voice,muslim leaders and organisations in singapore reject that act because it's extreme.furthermore,the JI did not win support of the muslim community BECAUSE THEY ALREADY LIVE IN PEACE WITH NON-MUSLIMS.
I have to admit something.Most western non-muslims need to catch up on interacting with muslims.western muslims now are trying to integrate.

Yes the Islam extremists are violent,, but thats only a percentage of Muslims, I don't think those idiots who threaten about terror bombings and "Islam being the true religion" know anything about their own religion, Islam may be violent but so was christianity many years ago.

don't blame the whole nation for the wrong doings of some. There are lots of peaceful people out there , people of different race, color or religion. It's the few that makes it hard on others. I'm not to proud of some of my so call Christian followers.

the problem of most people that they judge islam based on a bad experience they had with a muslim,but that doesn't mean all muslims are like that ,we see christians convected of lots of crimes including morality and murder crimes,does that mean that christians r bad....U should ask urself that question.....

I am sorry you receive such messages. This is a shame to Islam. But before you judge a whole religion that has millions and millions of followers all over the world, please let me ask you: how many people of the millions and millions of muslims send you such emails? Also so that we do not look at things out of context; have you provoked them? (I do not mean to offend you nor do I mean that their behaviuor is justified - but nothing comes from nothing).
