It can be, but only if you are smart about it. You should assume that some people will not be telling you the truth and others will be, but it may be difficult to distinguish between the two in a purely on-line format. If you are looking to meet up with people you meet online, I'd highly advise a public location and not giving out too much personal information in the process. I'd also advise paying real close attention to what a person says or writes about htemself. Fakers will inevitably show up with ionconsistancies, and you should consider challenging them on those. Sometimes, people make mistakes, but if they "get into a habit of making mistakes", that probably tells you all you need to know about whether or not they are genuine. If you decide the person is genuine, you can always give out more information, but its impossible to take back information once given out, so be careful.

Wishing you the best of luck.

it is perfectly safe if you use common sense and go with your gut feeling. I have been divorced for 6 years and everyone i have been out with since i have met online thru yahoo personals i made some very good friends met 1 that i truly love but after 8 months together he decided that he wanted something else and thats okay another lesson learned lol. I always chat with em to get a feeling about them and then i will talk on the phone and if all "feels" okay i will go out always in a very public place the first couple of times. But think about it , its really no different than going out with someone that you met at work or out somewhere i mean you dont really know most people when you first go out with em regardless of where you met then and yes there are exceptions but just use common sense and listen to your gut feelings and you should be fine good luck

no. no dating is safe. there are a lot of weirdos online just waiting to get you. but if you use common sense and don't give out much information then it can be safe. it can feel safer if you snoop on them and find sites they've been on for years. then you can judge if they really are the person they've been saying they are. and if youre a teen you shouldnt even think of online dating. what happens when you cant be together? you're heart will get broken. and thats if the guy is really the age he says he is.. and uh if they have a webcam they can at least prove what they look like. and if you find their myspace you can snoop on there to see if he/she has family members or people they actually know on it. and if the person truly seems to be who they say they are then if you want you can meet them but do it in a public place.

It can be. It depends on which services you use and how serious you are about it. You have to consider the fact that people lie. Especially on the Internet. Until you' been dating them for a while you won't find out the truth. For instance, my 18 year old sister just found out that one of her on line guys was 40! There were no indicators.
I'll admit it can be fun but if you're looking for a lifemate, it's probably not the way to go.
Also, I'd say in most, nearly all circumstances, do not agree to meet an on-line person anywhere in person. It's too dangerous.

To be honest these days many things can be deemed "un safe" and life is full of risks. I've never actually used a dating site as such, but i met my current boyfriend through myspace. At first I wasn't sure, but at the end of the day it's just like meeting someone on the street or in a bar or club. i know people say "they can lie to you" and yes they could, but so could people you meet on a night out or something. If you are going to try it, be careful and trust your instincts! Good luck!

Online dating is the most safe way dating ; once I want to meet a girl , I prefer to talk to her and know how does she think and she looks (pic)

I don't think so. Because most of the time the identityof the person is not known turthfully.

It becomes a mattter ifintimidation and leads to sometimes clicking which may or maynot be to the imaginary levels

As long as it in mail dealings only it could be safe.

YES!

I met my wife on Match.com. I liked that we were able to pick the criteria in a mate we were looking for. We both had a child from previous marriages and were both looking for someone with a child so we could gauge what type of parent they were. We were both looking for someone who didn't drink or smoke too, so it was very easy to weed people out. We just had our first baby together 5 months ago. My wife is the love of my live and I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to have found her. She is an excellent mother to my son who we have full-time and you would never know that my step-daughter and son weren't real siblings. My sister-in-law also found her true love over the internet too. I don't understand why people think you've less likely to be lied to in person than over the net. Just make sure you get a good picture of them and like them for who they are.

some times it is but not always make sure u talk to the person u want to date before u actually date them do a web cam so u can see them and talk to them for a long time to make sure that this is worth taking the risk and if it is and u dont live to far away meet them just make sure u tell some one where u r going so this way if they turn in to one of those phsyco people then someone will know where to start looking

Nothing is safe in life, everything is a risk so alwayz take care of yourself. If you are to meet someone that you met on the net, do what I do, either bring someone with you or at the least tell someone where you are going to be... back urself up just in case... you can never be too careful. Other than that... good luck and have fun !
