Oil paints come in alot of different brand names. The best one I have found, that is also reasonably priced is Georgian Oil colors. Wal-mart sells them in sets. If you have a Hobby Lobby near by, they run sales quite often on paints and brushes.
dickblick.com is also a cheap place to buy art supplies.

They are generally called oil paints or oils is that what you wanted to know? As for brand good and cheap is not synonymous with oil paints. You generally get what you pay for .Reeves used to be not bad for the price. They are now made in China and I have not tried them since .If you just want to give oil painting a try just get one of these little sets at wal mart and some extra white paint.if you decide to pursue it further Grumbacher's pre-tested is a mid price paint that is pretty good.I paint all the time and need paints that perform and have outstanding color so generally I will choose Winsor & Newton's Artist Oils,Old Holland,Rembrandt,or the Pre-Tested.

oil paints are oil paints, they come in tubes. They have to be cleaned and thinned with a paint thinner, not water.
A good brand is Grumbacher. You really only need a few paints to start with because you can mix your colors. You will of course need the primary colors, as well as white and black, and burnt sienna and raw umber. With these few paints, you can create almost anything you can imagine. Always spend the money on good brushes.

Personally I like the Van Gogh brand for oil paints. It's about medium-priced.

Well if you are not trying to spend a lot of money I suggest acrylics. Oil paints you have to buy the paints, oil, varnish, terpentine. That ran me about $330 as of late. I use Windsor which is a decent brand and not to pricy.... I just dont know how you are going to do it if you are not willing to pay the money.
