Rajesh. Take no notice of Onewhosub: for anyone who comes out with such an answer shows no respect for someone who asks a reasonable and sensible question. If that is what the Quran teaches, I do not think I shall bother. Humility is a great thing which also appears to be totally lacking in his answer.
As for your question, no-one who believes in an Almight God could possibly give any answer as He always was, is and forever will be. God bless...............

I'm sorry that some people's answers can be so hateful.. especially when the questioner is sincerely interested in learning something.
If you assume that light is a thing that was created, then God, being the creator, existed before light. i.e. nothing else existed with God or before God.
This is a belief held by many people from various faiths. It is a concept that is logical only to those who follow particular religions and who accept those kind of assumptions. If you don't accept these assumptions then answering your question would be more difficult since it pertains to the kind of knowledge that is beyond our means of aquisition or understanding.
Especially because it is difficult for the human mind to fully comprehend or imagine a reality where nothing existed. It's just too hard to wrap our heads around that concept!

God was, is and will be. He is omnipresent. There is a verse in Tamil, which assigns the attributes of both light and darkness. As a matter of fact, light and darkness are closely related. Darkness is nothing but the absence of light. All are the attributes of God, in the process of creation. When God withdraws Himself into a phase of inaction, the creation is suspended. The difference between light and darkness and such like opposite attributes are obliterated and drawn into Him.

Read the Bible for a thorough understanding of Who God is. Without Him nothing could or did exist.

There is no "before" God. He has always been and will always be. And no, God's first creation was light.

Do you worship your ego or something? Your intellect shows your inferiority as a human. Read some Qu'ran.
