My left arm has broken out in welts and bumps that itch so bad that I want to scream...I have tried everything to quiet the itching...The doctor says it is caused by "stress"...I have been up all night scratching it until it bleeds...I have used "cortizone cream, "calamine lotion" and "Lanacaine"...I even tried scrubbing it with soap and water....My arm is now covered with welts and won't quit itching....Please help!...I think it is a drug related reaction, but my doctor doesn't think so...

okay ...the answer I am going to give you is going to sound really weird but I have seen it work on three different people. Try using Purell Hand Sanitizer with Aloe, available in any pharmacy...it may not take away the problem but is sure helps you get through the itch until the underlining cause is resolved!...and in my husbands case -once he stopped scratching and gave the area a rest it went away on its own.

See if your doctor can give you some Mometsone Furoate creme 0.1% it works great. Bathing with cool water will help for a time. This could be a sort of "stress" like hive or shingles but it's better to get tested. This way the doctor can give you something for it.

Go to a dermatologist and get a second opinion. Write down what you've ingested right before you got the welts. It could very well be stress, but he should have given you something for it.

what planet's your doctor from.Any itchy rash is an allergic rash especially if there are welts? How's your breathing?are you wheezy?is your chest tight?if it's all over best go to the ER.It could worsen. You need chorpheniramine and hydrocortisone IV.
After this acute episode is over, there are allergy tests that can be done to see what it was.Change in washing powder?what did you eat before this came on?what meds if any did you take prior to it?

2 things can trigger the problem you explain. One is Food Intolerance- check your self with york test. OR you might have allergy reaction to any chemical in the soap, clothe detergent or the cream you use!- stop all products and detergents you use now and buy only organic products as they do not contain any harmful chemical in it. Also you can visit Nutritional Therapist to help you with the york test and your problem. on www.patrickholford.com you can find Nutritionist around you.
