Hello!

Got a problem with the wire that goes from our sky digital box into the phone line. The majority of the line is fine, it's just where the wire's go into the box that then goes into the phone line. They've all come astray from the box!

We've phoned sky and they want £65 to come and fix it! Which personally I think is a bit daft!

So, first does anyone know what this little box is called? It's got 2 phone line in sockets and one phone line out - then the sky box is connected at the bottom and hard wired into the box.

Second, where can I get one? I've tried looking on ebay, but don't know what it's called to find one!!

Thank you :)

The problem with the lead that goes into the sky box is...

It's possibly over 10 metres long because it goes all the way upstairs into my room and the phone socket is downstairs!!

Can I break into the current wire and fix it with the use of cable ties etc...

We don't have a normal Sky contract, we have multi room and as part of the multiroom contract we have to have both digi boxes plugged into the phone so that the extra box is just £10 a month. Without the line plugged in, it goes up to £35 a month. We would prefer the £10... :)

Tell Sky to go and get stuffed. You are the customer and they have no right to charge you for a service call. They tried that with me and I told them I was cancelling my direct debit. I had an engineer out in 3 days, no charge.

Dont let them bully you or your bank account!

Good luck.

just go to your local electrical store and buy a phone line splitter (little plug in socket that enables you to put two lines into one socket) and also buy a computer modem lead. Unplug the broken sky cable connect the modem lead into your sky box plug into splitter and then into phone point. Will work fine and should cost you about a fiver

If you have had your sky box for more than a year, then just ignore the phone wire or unplug it altogether from the sky box as the contract only states that you keep it conected for one year only, as it's only there for sky to rip you off when ordering movies to watch or for you to take part in playing stupid games on tv, and also to let you spend all your money on the rip off buying channels, therfore if you don't use then ditch it.

if you have BT line then that little box you said is called ADSL Micro Filter which is for having excellent voice clarity if you have Broadband. because if you have broadband then ADSL Micro Filter should be connected to all phone sockets which are being used by any item e.g telephone or wireless router. so it is very essential to have those and they dont cost a lot as well. You normally get them when you order you broadband.

It seems that what you are describing is a 2 way splitter or a double adaptor. Is it similar to this??
