I am trying not to resolve to doing it, but my flight from Geneva to Rome leaves 710 in the morning, and I need to check in up to 40 minutes before, which gives me maybe a few hours of night sleeps anyway. Do you think it is allowed to sleep on a bench in the airport in Geneva?

You can probably do it in a large airport. I had to sleep in airports overnight before, but only because flights or travel connections out of the airport (a bus, or family or friends) were delayed. Even the big airports get quite lonely and empty at night, but there are always at least a few people there in the same situation: delayed travel connections.

In the unlikely event that anyone should hassle you, just tell them that your travel connections were delayed--you're ride out was delayed or something like that.

The escalators going downward are usually empty enough to run up the wrong way, and vice versa. You can probably get away with a lot of things like that to amuse yourself that would normally not be possible during the day when the airport is crowded with other travelers.

Yes,

Major Airports cant keep people from sleeping their in the terminals . Perhaps a small domestic airport with few flights would make someone leave, but large intl airports have no way and need to stop it. Security gates will shut dut down at certain point, and not open until a certain point. So you may have to go into the terminal the night before.

I would advise against it, especially if you can find an airport hotel for a good price. You will wake up with your back feeling like its on fire if you sleep on a bench.

I would recomend a airport hotel. Some airports close for a few hours every nights and if you dont have a hotel room youre forced to sleep outside which could be damned could in switzerland. There should be one or more hotel with a mini bus conection that starts early. One tip is also that in most european hotells breakfast are included in the prize, thus sawing you a meal. Johan
