Personnally when I travel I just don't carry a lot of cash. Bank machines are everywhere and credit cards are pretty good to. Just make sure that check with your bank that you have the cirus or plus symbol and that you have a 4 digit pin.
If you have to have cash then keep it in a front pocket where you are going to see if someone goes there. The biggest factor is not acting like a stupid tourist. I have sat and watched people nearly get picked just to see how they did it. Usually they distract you somehow. Trying to sell something or asking questions and their partner does the grab. Money belts are a joke. They figured those out a long time ago.

Do not get a fanny pack: they scream tourist and you'll have every pickpocket in the area following you. In a crowd, they're easy to unfasten and snatch off someone.
Get a moneybelt or a neck pouch. They're secure and out of sight. The moneybelt tucks safely inside your pants and the neck pouch in your shirt. Keep all important documents (airline tickets, credit/ATM/debit cards, passport, important numbers) in the moneybelt or neck pouch. Operate with a day's worth of spending money in your wallet and keep the rest tucked safely inside your moneybelt. If you need to make a withdrawal, slip inside a bathroom and get what you need.

In a money belt or in a passport pouch that is carried around the neck. This way it is always in front of you, in your sight. I carried all my valuables in this pouch (rupees, dollars, passport, travelers checks, etc.) under my shirt at all times out and about. Any travel store has these passport pouches

spread your money around i always put most cash money in my socks in my backpack with dirty washing never had anyone steal from me .... on your body have a dummy wallet be careful with how much cash you carry had my wallet stolen in peru by people throughing spit in my eye this form of pickpocketing catches one by surprise so do not carry your cards in your wallet --- only when you have to carry your bank cards do you carry them ... of course all depends on what country you travel to but take various forms of money ie travellers checks, visa, bankcards .... something to remember isthat if you do not treat travellers checks like money you may not get a refund at all .. so if you do not use he hotel safe andthey get stolen then they may think you have been careless so not grant you your money back ..... they are not 100% gauranteed read the small print

First of all distribute your money in several parts, then try keeping it at different places as Purse/Money belt/Inner pocket/Waist bags/Try using a Identity card type pocket and keep some money in it, Try keeping some money in your mobile case,
In these sort of different places u will be always secured at odd times.
Enjoy Travelling.

I agree with Daisy. Bring traveller's checks instead and just some cash with you. And like what everyone else advised, it is safe to put it in a body bag and always put it in front of you.

although not a sought after fashion accessory, bumbags are an extremely secure way of stashin yo cash. Mainly cause it's strapped on you and very hard to grab.

You should buy a money belt that you wear around your waist & under your clothes.
Its the best way of securing your ticket and passport as well.
