I have a DVD recorder and it has a reset function on it,
look in your operating user manual to see whether there is this option with yours. if it has it will reset your recorder back to factory settings so you will be able to formatt and erase disk's. good luck

See if there are any sights of software burn from where the disks was partially formated before. maybe your using new DVDs that was messed up from the start. If all that fails getting a new DVD Recorder is indeed a bargain especially since most them now go for less than a 100 count stack of blank DVDs.
