Religion is not mentioned in the Bible because the it is based on what we call a "christian religion" a religion is actually a specific way of believing that can change, but the Bible shouldn't change. it is what it is and always will be. the Bible talks about other beliefs but not religion; also because religion is a word that we came up with to specify the different beliefs or the different religions. that answer ur question?

"But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their RELIGION into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God" 1 Timothy 5:4
"If anyone considers himself RELIGIOUS and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his RELIGION is worthless. RELIGION that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27
"They have known me for a long time and can testify, if they are willing, that according to the strictest sect of our RELIGION, I lived as a Pharisee." Acts 26:5
The Greek word used in the last two cases was θρησκεια which my Greek lexicon defines as "religious worship, religion, a religious system, piety". The word used in Timothy was ευσεβειν which again meant "to exercise piety towards a deity, to worship, to be dutiful"
I don't see your logic, though, in thinking since the exact transliteration "religion" (which would be ρελιγιον) wasn't even a word, how that makes all "religions" false. "Religion" is just a category, but the essence and spirit of a religion can be very true indeed, regardless of what word is used to categorize it.

Because "religion" was invented when several different ones were founded. In the Bible there is only one. "The Way". Sorry to disappoint you from believing you had "pulled one over on us" but us true Christians know these things. Have a blessed day and may you find God before it is too late. Hope to see you in paradise.

What do you think Jesus was preaching against the angered the religious leaders of the Temple? Jesus preached against empty religion. Looking good on the outside and being full of corruption on the inside. Jesus was advocating Obedience to God's Word and mercy in place of empty sacrifices and going through the motions.

I don't think there is ever a "right religion". All religions are good, I suppose and each has its own good values to be adhered to in becoming a better individual and praising God faithfully. It was only people who made up the word religion and how it really came to be. God is viewed differently in in every religion but ultimately, there is really only one God no matter what religion one belongs to.

Because it is then insignificant, as the Bible focuses on the foundation that Faith should be directed in One True God.
Religion is already an immaterial subject, as in the Bible, Jesus already emphasized that He is the Way,Truth, and the Light to anyone seeking the kingdom of God.

IT IS IN THE BIBLE. Read James 1:27, which says:
"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." KJV

Perhaps because there was no English language then?? The idea of belief was definitely expressed and the basic definition of what "religion" means is there.
