Let's review the term "fattening." Basically, it means "will this food make me gain weight?"
And no matter which food it is, or how many calories are in it, each and every food can be "fattening." Basically, I mean, a calorie is a calorie. Whether the calorie is from chocolate cake or from a carrot, it's still a calorie, and consuming more calories than you need is going to cause weight gain. I don't care if you sit around eating lettuce all day. If you eat 3000 calories worth of lettuce, you're still going to gain weight.
Now to your real question, which I assume is really more like "can almonds be a part of my diet?" to which I say yes yes yes! They have essential fats and are a good source of protein and are so good for you, as long as you don't go overboard. A small handful of almonds (10-15 of them) makes an absolutely perfect snack.
Eat up!

Yes and no.
Almonds contain fat, but it's a good fat and your body needs it. Unless you're eating huge amounts of them a day, you're not going to gain a lot of weight from them.

I think the general rule is one handful or about 12 or so. Another added benefit of almonds is that they help lower blood pressure.
