Is it chance that produces the results of a coin toss, or laws of weight, velocity, time, and force of gravity and no chance at all?
Does a chance then describe nothing?
If you have a chance meeting, that means it was unplanned not without cause, for although it was unplanned and unexpected, it still happened because it had a cause, just not a cause that you knew of or had any part in.
The cause was because your friend was there and you were there, and you were both there for various reasons or causes. The meeting was caused by these separate independent factors.
So if I say I met my friend by chance, what am I really saying?
Answer, that I ran into him unexpectedly.
So if I say as some are in the habit of saying, the Universe was created by chance, what does that really mean? Am I saying the universe was created by unexpectedly? If Chance is a description then it is an adjective and not a noun. Can an adjective be a cause of anything? Then, can chance be a cause of anything?

hmm logical explanation...yet another reason to believe in God! I'll add that to my library of reasons. Thanks! :)

(HEY MARVIN!!!!! brain the size of a planet ;) )

MORE MARVIN!
"Brendan, I think I sounded smarter than I really am by giving this answer" if that was re my "brain the size of a planet". I wasn't referring to your answer, just giving a marvin the paranoid android quote.

"you must look beyond words to get concepts like relativity or probability. (They are more like abstract concepts rather than word play.)" Yes, I know. My word play was not meant to relate to relativity. I was trying to do the opposite(see the first part of my answer). My point was to engage in nonsensical wordplay lacking meaningful connection to the concepts I mentioned. If you respond to me by msg it will be easier. Also, I am a big admirer of Einstein and his philosophies on life, the universe, and everything(D.A. reference again).

----------

You are really making a lot of big jumps outside of logic and appropriate formation and connection of ideas. Here, watch, I can do it too.

Water is blue, space is black, both are colours, space contains everything, so does colour contain everything? What is the geometric shape of chance? Surely there are infinite geometric shapes, and infinite adjectives such as chance, or is chance a verb? If there are infinite shapes and infinite adjectives, then which shape best fits chance? Chance starts with C, C is almost like G, which is the first letter in God, does this mean that chance is almost like god? If this means nothing then what is the shape of a letter good for! God is dog backwards, does that mean that god is shaped like a backwards dog? Are gods the reverse creators of the universe? My car has reverse, but reverse is a verb AND an adjective, is my car the cause of the universe, or is the universe the cause of my car? If I could go back in time and make time run backwards, should I get a marker and write "forwards" beside the shifter in my car? If I am forwards thinking, then why is there someone with a brain thinking standing in front of me? am I not "behind" thinking, then? Isn't everything relative according to einstein, and therefore doesn't being "forward thinking" while behind someone else disprove relativity? Is relativity based on chance, I mean, is relativity based on unexpectedly?

Congratulations, you've found the existence of probability and how it plays a major part in a lot of outcomes.

I bet you will have a lot more respect for the unknown now that you know you can't always predict every single outcome.

Read about Bohr-Einstein debate someday. You will learn to wonder more.

Brendan, I think I sounded smarter than I really am by giving this answer. The word-play that you mentioned in your answer doesn't seem to relate to relativity in anyway -- you must look beyond words to get concepts like relativity or probability. (They are more like abstract concepts rather than word play.)
I was merely trying to direct the asker's attention towards open-mindedness as promoted by Einstein and another one of Einstein's well-known quotes (about the limits of knowledge) and Bohr's reply to it. (It makes you wonder about the two masterminds and their individual geniuses.)
