First let me tell you that I own a pest control company and what I will recommend is the complete treatment that should help you completely get rid of the fleas.
First, treat the pet with Capstar. This is a pill that you get from the vet that will kill all of the fleas that get on the animal for the first 24 hours. Second, use either Frontline or Advantage, these can also be purchased from the vet. Frontline can be used on pets 12 weeks old or older. Advantage can be used on animals as young as 6 weeks.
Once the pet has been treated, you must treat your home and yard. The best products to do this would include not only a killing agent, but also a sterilization agent. Inside, I would use Ultracide, if you can get it. (Many on line sites sell it.) Wash all animal’s bedding and vacuum frequently. DO NOT STEAM CLEAN YOUR RUGS! This can hatch flea eggs and make your problem worse.
Outside I would use Demon WP mixed with Gentrol or Nylar. Treat the entire yard, paying special attention to under bushes and low hanging branches. Most of these products can be bought at any Do-It-Yourself Pest Control company either on line or in a store.
Treating your house and yard is just as important as treating the pet!
It is also very important to stay away from the grocery store or box store products like Zodiac or Hartz. Many of these products can cause severe allergic reactions in animals.

Using a flea comb is really the only safe way to do it before they are 12 weeks.
Most preperations for fleas are only suitable from 12 weeks of age.
So get your self a flea comb (metal comb with the teeth really close together) and comb thru the puppys coat any fleas will get caught on the comb and can be rinsed under the tap so they are washed away down the sink.
Your vet will be able to advise on a suitable de wrorming /de fleaing programe, you now get drops which treat fleas, mites and wroms in one application, but always ensure you seek the advice of your vet before starting, most are prescription only and there are a lot of unsafe ones on the market that can be bought from the internet and some pet shops.

I always try to avoid any chemical treatment until puppy is at least 12 weeks old and find combing with a flea comb and rubbing in some baby talcum powder fantastic. Use very little , behind ears , on tummy and around the rump - fleas can't live in powder and pup smells gorgeous - and its harmless !

You can get Frontline or Advantage from the vet and use it on a puppy as young as 8 weeks. Do NOT ever use an OTC flea product or dewormer on your puppy or any dog. They are ineffective and they can be very dangerous to your pet!!!

Go to your vet - there is frontline in spray form which may be used in animals from 2 days old onwards, a drop form which may be used from 8 weeks old, and also advantage drops which can be used in weaned pups and kittens from 8 weeks old.
For Gods sake, do not use pet shop, supermarket etc products or flea collars as these are not as effective and can be toxic (we see fatalities every year from these products). Stick to frontline and advantage!!!

Did the breeder frontline him/her before he left his mum? If so he won't need doing for two/three months. If not you should do it straight away. Go to your vets and get some frontline spray/drops and apply to the back of his neck. It's very effective. He/she will also need worming.
Best thing to do is to get a vet check to ensure the pup is healthy and the vaccinations are done.

ask your vet. Ask yourself what sort of dirty breeder you bought it from who had fleas in the house.
