The time to peak activity of amoxicillin is two hours and it is primarily metabolized by the liver. Alcohol is not absolutely contraindicated when taking amoxicillin the way it is with other antibiotics like Flagyl. I think it would be fine to have a couple drinks on new years if you wait at least two hours after your dose. Keep in mind that alcohol is also metabolized by the liver so don't have more than a couple!

What should I avoid while taking amoxicillin?

Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, stop using amoxicillin and call your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

It is never a good idea to mix prescription drugs and alcohol. Don't skip the dose. Have those few glasses of wine in a few days when your treatment is completed.

Its OK to drink alchohol on antibiotics. Alchohol has absolutly no effect on antibiotics, unless the antibiotics contain hydrocodone or Acetominophen.

In general, you need to be careful with alcohol and meds. But, this time you're fine.

Amoxicillin is just a common, minor antibiotic, there are no known diet/consumption interactions.

No, you shouldn't chick, sorry to spoil ur new years eve! Antibiotics wont work as well with alcohol, and may make you sick. Also...if you're on the pill the amoxicillin can affect your contraceptive protection...so be careful if you r!

You're not supposed to drink alcohol with any antibiotics and Amoxicillan is quite a strong one. It stops the drugs working and depending on your usual tolerance there's a chance you'll end up very sick and ruin your night. Not worth it.

Of course!
Just dont get drunk!!!
Better not to,but it wont kill you?..;but dont worry just having 1 or 2 drinks..I always use to swallow them with whisky..and not only did I feel better directly..It still always cured me..so try not to.;but dont worry to much..unless you are alergic,in wich case you shouldn't take the pills anyways.
The reasons docters say this is because ..yes you might forget to take one.;and of course drinking a full bottle of whisky on it will be dangerous...but a few glasses of wine?
make sure to drink enough water as well..so drink but do not get drunk!greets
I agree slightly with the above statements.;but believe me as A trekker and expedition member on some of the most disease ridden places on earth.;like the meals of raw rat in the north-east himalayas;malaria,amonia..or how you call it when your lungs are fuckred!
Anyway I used to drink a lot and it never affected the medicine..Of course its better not to!
Still do not get to paranoid about it..;And the people who say ,that they stop working.;well did it ever happen to them?
With me these antibiotics always worked anyways!
Its like saying dont drink on valium it will kill you..
yes it will ..if you eat 20 of them and drink a liter of whisky ..but really do not worry about a few new years drinks..and yes the alcohol together with this horrible anti biotics will possible make you feel worse,But its not true saying oh you drink and you might as well not take them..thats a fairy tail!.;they are way to strong to be stopped by a few glasses of beer!
I feel sorry for you..I hate these pills..they kill every cell in your body..usually I feel pretty bad from them..no matter if I drink or not!
Also it would surprise me if you actually feel like drinking on them...happy new years...and lets hope you ll finish your anti-biotic course..make sure to take the full presciption!

NO - NO _ NO--!!! You should not drink any alcohol while taking antibiotics at anytime. You might as well not have even started them. You could become sicker than you were to began with..
