If you mean why are we at war in Iraq it's so we won't have to fight terrorists here at home. And it was to rid Iraq of an evil murdering dictator. Bush's reasons for going had a few goals. We were attacked on 911 by terrorists who killed around 3000 Innocent Americans. From other countries we got intelligence that said Saddam was a threat to the U.S. and to other countries and they thought he had weapons of mass destruction and was building more to someday attack us. Besides he broke every U.N. resolution that were put on him. And he wouldn't let anyone inspect his country to see if this was true. And he did brag about having them and using them when ever he could. After he was captured we found notes that he paid family's of suicide bombers 25000 to blow up innocent people including women and children. He killed 100's of thousands of his own people using wmd's. Anyway our president and most of congress agreed that he was not only a menace to his own country but to others as well and the world would be better off without him in power. Bush gave him warning that unless you cooperate with the rest of the free world and stop what you are doing we are going to take you out. He didn't so we did take him out. the people of Iraq now have their own constitution and voted freely for the first time! War is never a good thing but sometimes it's necessary for some to risk their lives in order to protect freedom. Freedom sadly always comes with a price. It would be great if we could all get along live in peace but their are always some who think they have to rule others and kill them if they won't go by their rules. So we must defend ourselves and freedom or life wouldn't be worth living. We stayed in Iraq to help the people get strong enough to defend themselves from other terrorists who don't believe in individual freedom either. And as president Bush predicted terrorists would flock to Iraq to try and stop freedom from spreading, taking a foothold in the middle east. He figured better to make Iraq ground zero then here in the United States. We are winning the fight against terrorism but it is slower then we would like. The longer it takes the more innocient people die along with those terrorists who deserve to die. we are doing our best under the circumstances and have to stay and finish the war on terror or they will continue to grow like a cancer. we must win and we will win. Hope that haelps a little.
