Unfortunately everyone is right....you have got to take a class first. You can "learn" it a home, but the chances of you getting the position correct without physical guidance by a trained professional is highly unlikely as well as unsafe. Really, you will totally benefit from classes. I actually started taking yoga at a community college and totally loved it. In 3 months I had increased my flexibility by 2.5 inches and my insomnia had greatly improved. But definitely take a class, learn it right the first time...then you can practice on your own.

Learning yoga online is tantamount to learning to do your own dental surgery online. Expressing a pose or movement incorrectly could cause harm. Take a few lessons with someone trained and knowledgeable and then practice at home. You cannot watch someone do something such as yoga and immediately understand the implications of it in its entirety.

Hmm. This is a tough one. Doing yoga by yourself always opens yourself up to injury by not doing the exercises correctly. If you attend a class, the teacher can correct you and lessen this possibility.

I would personally recommend attending classes for a couple of months, then if you want to pursue it, asking the teacher to recommend a DVD set.
