It depends on how it goes. Some people have little problems with wisdom teeth removal. Or, the unfortunate ones like me vomit as a reaction to pain medication, end up in the emergency room with jaw spasms and suffer with dry sockets for a month. Childbirth was a breeze compared to that. Hope it goes better for you.

I would say on average 3-5 days.

One day is adequate.

First, you will definitely need help not only taking care of him, but in driving home from your appointment. They give you some pretty heavy anesthetic during wisdom tooth removal, and you will not be able to drive home. You will probably be on some heavy pain killers like hydrocodone (Vicodin), which are going to make you sleepy. You will probably sleep for much of the day after you arrive home from your surgery, so you won't be able to adequately watch or take care of your son.

You'll be on painkillers for a few days afterwards as well, but it will get better and better as the days go by, so one day's help from someone will probably be just right. If possible, you might try to schedule the surgery on a Friday though, so you have the weekend to recuperate.

Don't worry about your surgery, I've found that most claims about the difficulty of recovery from wisdom teeth extraction are highly inflated, or they just didn't properly care for their teeth so they ended getting an infection or dry socket. I was off pain pills after 2-3 days and eating soft solid foods again after about 3-4 days. Not a big deal at all.

Yes, when you first get home you are going to be very drowsy, then after that wears off you will be in pain. When I got mine out I did not think I would need to take the pain RX , but I did need it for the first day and a half.

A few days and remember to avoid dry sockets you should not bend over and or pick up heavy objects for 4 days!!

yes! you will need at least a week to recover. I had taken only a week, and wished i would have taken 3.

i was only 16, and no kids, and now with a 4yrold , i would never have it done alone!!!

tell him you need 2-3weeks!!!!-if you can afford it. if not, definitely 4 days@@
