Will future DVD Players feature support for the playing of avchd format. If not, will HD DVD support it?

I know Blu-Ray Players will be able to play avchd encoded discs.

bluray players will... but what i'm trying to get at is has anyone burned an avchd disc(like from one of the new sony camcorders) and tried to play it in an HD DVD Player

Both HD DVD and Blu Ray players should support AVC or H.264.
Standard definition DVD players don't have to support AVC
