Buddhist Monks and Music?

Does anyone know why Buddhist Monks avoid listening to music?

I read that some sects are not allowed to listen to music & was just wondering what the reasoning was. (and, no I'm not dissing Buddhism - I'm Buddhist myself!).

Buddhists monks don't listen to music because of one of the precept.I just came back from a meditation retreat where we also take the precept to abstain from music,perfume,eating after noon and luxurious bed.
