I don't think it really matters what you do but rather who you do it with. As long as you are with someone special, maybe invest in a bottle of Champagne (or a sparkling wine) to toast at midnight... but that's all that really counts... spending your life savings to get into a club and then pay extortionate prices even for tap water is such an anti climax to the year and not worth it at all.

The best night I ever had was with a group of friends, letting off fireworks in my garden at midnight and then chatting the night away till the sun came up.

Well at New Years 1999, I was in the coldest house in the United Kingdom near Leeds, in a small village called Micklefield. But I don't recommend it..:) What is it with the UK and centeral heating???...:)

Gibralter or some other outpost of Empire that is still considered the UK. It is likely to be more civilised certainly warmer and more friendly.

In the UK - go to bed and forget about it until next year.

Cuddled up with another Kiwi (male) anywhere in the UK, or in a sleeping bag on the shores of Loch Ness with another Kiwi (male) waiting for my former Mother in Law to surface...:)

You want to try Newquay, some of the clubs are opening 36 hours and drink prices don't go sky high (at most of the clubs)!!
