Yes, in forestry and aboriculural sciences, even a tree is considered dead from the moment it is cut down. A leaf seperated from a plant is therefore at that moment considered dead. A cut leaf will not grow, reproduce, or transfer sugars to its host plant, since it no longer performs its life functions, it is dead.

Yes a leaf is dead when it falls off a tree branch.

All its METABOLIC activities gradually come to stand still.

It is then attacked by microorganism and it begins to decay like

any animal body.

No. It's life processes are still going on but being separated from a source of water and minerals, it will die in short order.
