I have seen it a thousand times, and not that there is anything wrong with it, I just want an opinion on why people think it's really important to have that first kiss on New's Years Day.

They say how you spent the NEW YEAR is how you will spend the rest of the year. Sounds crazy I know but I believe some things they say.

I like to start the year off right. Hopefully, whatever I do on New Year Day, will carry on through the rest of the year.

No. I think there is a superstition that whatever you are doing at midnight its a prediction of what the rest of the year will be.
... so if ur kissing at midnight new year's eve, for example, you would be starting off the new year with a prediction of romance for the future year. :)

It isn't important. It just is a tradition. Like shaking hands when meeting or waving when saying goodbye.
