Check out the web site for The Stuttering Foundation of America for ways that you can help your child. The site is loaded with good information for parents, teachers, employers, and anyone communicating with someone who stutters. There is a referral list of specialists if one is needed. The Foundation gives some books and DVDs to public libraries so check yours to see if they have their information.

Stuttering is usually not linked to hearing deficiencies. The exact reason stuttering occurs is unknown. Usually those with hearing problems have a problem with physical production of speech since they can't hear the way we speak.

I would take him or her to see the doctor to rule out hearing problems or stuttering. I personally think that the child is nervous or frightened by something at home which could be the reason they don't stutter at daycare. Try to find out what's stressing your child in the home but please take them to see the doctor. Hope this helps!

No
I stutter when I was in school K - 2, was tested for hearing and other stuff. Along with most of the other kids. It cleared up lateer but I still have trouble with certain words I do not pronounce correctly.

Funny thing is at age 35 I lost my hearing in one side due to German Measles.

This is true is some cases. Some have found by putting cotton in the ear has helped and some cases stopped stuttering. It has something to do with the person hearing their voice when speaking
