In which language you two speak ? Your child would learn that language first.

For study teach him/her English only. Leave rest to him/her to grow up and decide.

And for your marriage its more of Inter-State marriage or Inter-country marriage than Intercaste marriage. But who cares as long as you love each other !!!!!

Babies learn faster than adults. The earlier you start the faster the child can understand the mother's and father's language. Best is that the mother speaks her language with the child and the fataher his, when speaking to the child, and the child should answer back in the same language as that of the parent.

I have seen lot of examples where the parents speak different languages, and this technique works!!!

Hope it helps you too!

It works very well, provided that the child understands which language is which. I.e., if one of you always speaks language X and the other lang. Y. Otherwise the child will mix the two.

It's best to expose the baby to the sounds of the languages as soon as possible - so play some native English to you baby in addition to speaking whatever language you and your hubby speak. Doing this will ensure that he have perfect pronunciation.

You should also worry about the "usefulness" of each language. English is very very useful.

My son is fluent in 3 languages: Russian, Ukrainian and English since he was 2.5 y.o. I spoke with him only in Russian, my husband - only in English and at school it was pure Ukrainian. We use to live in Ukraine till he turned 10 and than moved to US. I got a satellite TV in Kiev and blocked most of the translated channells for him. So Nick was watching Discovery and other educational channells in English. It boosted his vocabulary pretty well.
We read a lot of books in Russian and English. School gave him a good vocabulary boost in Ukrainian. This is true that the younger your child the easier it would be to teach them the language. You have to go over the rules of the language but in the playfool manner, not like at school. Kids get bored very fast. Spend as much time as possible playing language games with your child. Get language course from the library for the kindergarden on the language you would like to teach your child. Most of them would have a book with lots of pictures, audio tapes, work books, etc. Interactive games are great. Make little sticky notes all over the house with words and put translation on the back of it. Place them on the walls low level that you child can walk by and read or just look at them. For example, on the way to the kitchen you can place food and kitchen related words, etc. Change them after a week. Keep most of them in the little box and than place them again a month later. Try to use this words when talking to your child. Kids are very visual people so show what this word mean and keep saying a word.Play guess games with your kids, it's always fun, give away little prizes for a good guess, like a candy or fruit ( I like a bowl of grapes or dried fruits, it depends what you childeren like, my son didn't know what sugar and candy is till he turned 7y.o. :) The other game you can play is to make different language days: one day - English, next day - other language and the next day different one. Make sure kids understand the game but you all will have to follow the same rules. :)
I hope this will help. If you have any questions just ask anyuta_m@yahoo.com

its very nice 2 see how open-minded u r
babies pick up things around them. as per a study conducted by a US University, babies have nerves that are well-connected, which adults do not. they can thus learn a lot of things by just looking and listening. speak in eng and ur mother tongue(s) in front of it. show it what words mean. it will understand, even if it doesn't show any repsonse. u can let it watch some cartoons in different alnguages (DON'T show it some racy bollywood flick). kids like cartoons, and pick up more than 80% of their vocabulary from there.
yes, babies can learn many things, and it is very good if u teach it multiple languages

Children do learn at an early age and if they here both languages they should pick up on both. However they may be alittle confused at first. I think I would do one at a time to avoid the confusion. Good luck

Yes your baby will be able to learn both languages. You would have to put more emphasis on the language that is rarely spoken within the family. That would be the hardest to learn for your child.

The best for kids to learn is when they are young, especially under 6 they learn alot before this age. How to talk, think etc etc. It is said that a multi lingual child is able to learn more easily.

children have a higher capacity to learn languages than adults. You do not even have to teach them often as they listen, imitate and learn. Dont worry they will know what you say..in any language as long as you know what language it is!! :-)
