You could have helped us a bit more by saying what air port you are talking about and what town it is you live in.

If you are in JFK, take the air train to Jamaica Station. get on either the lirr or the subway and take it as a far as you can to where you need to go. If you home is in CT you can take metro north. It will be running still.
