I still sleep with a blanket, it's embarassing but I have a TERRIBLE time sleeping without it. What's worse is that sometimes I also suck my finger (as one would their thumb.. just with my pointer) it's a habbit I haven't been able to shake. I mean, I have baby videos of me lying on this blanket unable to lift my head but sucking my finger. After 16 years of this it's a hard thing to stop, I'm addicted. I don't want to stop sleeping without my blanket, but I don't want to have buck teeth again. YUCK.

Whenever I have a family member hide it I get so frustrated and spend all my time looking for it until I do find it. I would be miserable if I were to throw it away, I'd be in the trashcan thirty seconds afterwards. I've had my boyfriend take it to his house (he finds my habbit cute hehe) but when he's not looking I hide it in my purse! I'm a lost cause haha! The nail polish thing is a good idea.. Ive tried socks/gloves but I just take them off asleep or not. That website was good too.. thank you :)

Try wearing surgical gloves at night, you can buy them at any store, they have a bad taste to it. Ever been to the dentists? You know what they taste like.. Just try to wean yourself off it, it's card cause you can't really see your progress with the finger sucking, but you can control the blanket. Tell a family member to hide it so you can't find it, or simply just throw it away, it's as easy as that. Are you going to let your addiction control you? No, be the person in control. Nip it in the bud! Good luck!

There is this nasty nail polish that makes your fingernail very bitter and almost impossible to put in your mouth. My mom used it on me as a child and it got me to stop sucking my thumb. Don't know what it was called or if they still make it, do a yahoo or ask.com search for it. Don't be ashamed about sleeping with your blanket though. It's normal to want something familiar and has lots of memories to help you sleep.

I've been sleeping with a toy of mine for 9 years!!! I think the blanket thing's fine, as for the finger-sucking, I'd chew gum. That's what my friend did to stop biting her nails.
Good luck!

for whatever reason, it brings you comfort...I live where the noise was so horrible, that I had to sleep everynight with headphones on. Now that it has finally stopped after ten years,....I can't sleep without them...it helps me sleep..so why worry about it? It is kinda sweet, and maybe when you get married and have a little one, you can pass it on to them, kind of like a tradition,...and you will love them so much, that it will be an easy thing to do....believe me, things will change on their own..so who cares for now? God Bless, darling.
