I am going out with a black man next week and was wondering if people still give mixed couples a hard time in public.

There are still people out there who will disapprove of biracial relationships, no matter how casual or serious they are. I doubt there are many places these days where you'll encounter outright hostility from people, unless they feel "provoked" in some way. Usually the disapproval will be more of an underhanded nature, such as left-handed compliments, muttering under the breath, pretending to not hear you, or just treating you poorly but not making it obvious why.

But if I were you, I wouldn't worry about what others think, say or do. If you like the gentleman you intend to date and he likes you, that's all that truly matters. Go out, have a great time, and get to know the MAN, not the color. Hang what others think. They have to live with themselves.

P.S. I'm married to a man who is of a different race than I am. I don't even notice how others may or may not react to this. We love each other and that's all that counts. Besides, you learn so much more about the world and the varying cultures by dating interracially. : )

Nowadays the world is changing and you see alot of mixed relationships. From my experience people are more amazed to see mixed race couples. Overall though you have decided to meet a guy who is of another culture to you but if you want to get to know him and see where it goes it's up to you. Don't let others perceptions decide on who you can and can't date or be in a relationship with. People who give other people hard times about who they are with because of something such as race probaly have no relationship and are just jealous and bored.

My boyfriend is black, I'm white; he's from NY, and lives in Harlem; when we walk hand in hand in the streets of Harlem, we do actually attract other people's attention, but we're given no hard time. I live in Turkey, Turks are not racists but if seeing a white man with a black woman doesn't shock anyone, seeing the contrary does actually shock. In Europe in general there's still a stupid racist way to see interracial relationships between white women and black men: a white woman dating a blck man is considered a 'lustful' (just to use an euphemism) woman. But I never cared about what people think: I love my man, and I'm proud to have him by my side as well as of his origins. So, my suggestion is: if you really like this man, don't ever let stupid people's thoughts get between you and him; ignore racists and be proud of your man.

na, that was in the 90's. its a thing of the past. the old fashioned people over 60 will give u a hard time but they are old enough to find something to bit$$ about anyways. im 20 am my boyfriend is 48 and we get looks but i find that it is getting more and more common every day. girls my age are looking for guys with a head on their shoulders and not a scum bag. it doesnt matter what people think anyways. they arent dating him you are right?? good luck and i hope it works out for the both of you!!

It really depends on where you are. Like in the South you'd get deathly stares(at least from my experiences). It's not as bad as it was before, but you do get nasty looks every now and then. I think it's more acceptable now. I'm asian and my husband is caucasian and every once in a while we get those oh my gosh stares. Usually from old white folks:) We just keep it moving cause love sees no color:)

Depends on where you are.And I mean that both in terms of what city and country you live in as well as what part of that city and country you live in.Of course, there is always a possibility of facing discrimination anywhere. But some areas of various cities and countries have higher prejudices then other areas.

Yes they do. Not a hard time, but people will act differently. IT is human nature. Watch Guess Who (the movie) for inspiration dear.

Yes they do but that's not your concern. Have fun next week and don't pay any attention to the small minded individuals who may be caught starring or making comments.

it all depends on where you are. I have been out with black friends and gotten bad looks from white and black people so it really doesnt matter just ask yourself does it matter/ you dont know these people. who cares what a bunch of strangers think? if this guy makes you happy and you like him it shouldnt matter what people think.
