Harry Potter seems just like a fictional movie- with little wizards and cute little chants and such. But I heard that there are actually many hidden messages within it. That some of the little chants are actually derived from witchcraft and such. I would like serious answers in regards to what you know about the true meaning behind Harry Potter.

Harry Potter is not good. There is nothing good about it. I watched the first one and tried to keep an open mind. I could not find anything good about it. It introduces young minds to believe that witchcraft is so innocent, which is not true. Satan does not need a wide open door, just a little crack to get in. A true Christian should be able to discern that it is not a good thing.

Many authors will make up fictional stories to produce Truth inside their story!
I do it all the time with the stuff i write.
Harry potter is Fiction! Not everything is true. It is fun. And the author has the right to spin her yarn.
However I have always been conflicted that Good people will always seek to practice witchcraft, instead of seeking FAITh that God would protect us and fight our battles for US.
either way you go, there are indeed hidden messages, but even in washington DC the streets are built up after the order of FreeMasonry. There are secrets throughout our governement and military that are more of an abomination than Harry Potter. But we live in a country of freedoms because of some of them. I hate it all, both ways, and Love fiction stories.

There are a lot of weird answers here. Rather than blather on about my feelings, here is a good website for you to have a look at, written by a literature professor who has analyzed the Harry Potter books. It will answer your question far more definitively than I could!

There are other sites out there regarding analysis of the meaning of Harry Potter books. If you google Harry Potter with phrases like "Christian meaning" or "hidden message", you will get better answers than some of the ones people have written to you!

It's not just a fictional movie - it's a filmic adaptation of a novel!

There are hidden messages in it - thinly veiled CHRISTIAN symbolism.

The little chants are not derived from witchcraft; they are pseudo-Latin. If you research church history, you will find that Latin was the traditional language of Catholic mass.

Harry Potter is a great children's series, that's it. It does not encourage magic anymore than the Narnia series.

Moreover, it teaches great values that do not contradict Christianity. Such as: love is the greatest force of all, greater than any spells, or that loyalty, friendship, and honesty are the important things in life. It never hesitates to label evil actions as evil and never justifies evil.

I would suggest reading the first two or three books for yourself.

Harry Potter is just a dumb Series of books and now movies that get allot of little kids beat up at school kinda like Dungeons and Dragons did. But I do agree with IF GOD BE4ME that it dose open the impressionable minds of young children to Witch craft as harmless and fun which it is not. Oh, and a funny story that really happened, my friend Eric's daughter had a friend over one day who had a Harry Potter watch and left it when she went home. Eric found it, flipped out and smashed it then prayed over the house, lol can you believe that! Then he tried to blame his broken marriage on yugioh cards and claimed My Little Ponies and Cabbage Patch dolls were demonic

But in his defense he is pretty dumb...

I don't know the true meaning behind Harry Potter because I won't watch it. I believe it is masterminded by Satan to decieve all that watch it. Honestly, God put it in my Spirit to not let my kids watch it. I believe the chants are real and I also believe those chants will summon up demons into the homes and theaters, wherever the movie is shown. I wonder how many kids go around chanting the same thing, unknowingly calling on demons. Scarey huh? It's good to know that my kids and myself are covered by the blood of Jesus. Satan is definitely roaming the earth to and fro to devour as many as he can.

In the good old days we would have burned all the people that dared go to see this abomination or read the book.

Ah, let's get the inquisition and witch hunting running again for the safeguard of our civilization and way of life...

People tell the same kind of rumors about Disney cartoons and rock & roll songs. Some people do it for fun. Other folks see the devil everywhere they look. It's probably nonsense.
