Yeah, thats what I meant. If you tip a cow over will SHE be able to stand back up. Or if you like : if you tip a BULL over will he be able to stand back up.

Besides the fact that it is really hard to tip a cow...

If you don't damage anything, yes.

I love how this is under Etiquette-- "Sorry to be rude, but I just tipped your cow...."

A search for cow-tipping brings up some amusing and informative articles. I particularly enjoyed this one:

http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_363.html

From personal knowledge, the "myth" about a tipped cow (or bovine, for those with a gammatical fixation) not being able to stand comes from the fact that if a cow were to fall with it's body downhill from it's legs, it would be unlikely that the cow would be able to right itself, as the tremendous body weight would keep it from being in a position to do so. And, seeing as how this is a stance in which the animal could be more easily "tipped" by two people working together (or even, possibly, a single person with enough force), then there is some possibility that a cow could be tipped and unable to recover from the fall.

And yes, it can be injurous to the animal and is definitely not suggested as a leisurely pastime.

Not always - and cows are female, BTW. Tipping a cow can break their legs, damage them internally, and if pregnant, cause them to miscarry.

It's why the ranchers I know used to patrol their fields with gun in hand, loaded with salt rock, for the first few weeks the local college was in session.

A cow is one buttload of rocksalt more valuable than a drunken frat boy.

The only reason I'm answering is to say that I would love to view some internet video of some college idiots being shot in the *** with rock salt for bothering some cows.

A cow is a she. A bull is a he. I would never try to trip either a cow or a bull. I would prefer not to get trampled on.

A cow would be a "she".

If you tipped a bull over, you should be running for dear life!!!!

haha this question made me laugh!!
i dont think the cow would be able to stand up again because its legs arnt made to turn on the sides and push itself back up.
